What a Weekend

Good morning.

Well, what a weekend, eh? Dame Maggie left us, but what a cache of great work. While she'll most likely be remembered most for Downton Abby and the Harry Potter films, the first time I took notice was The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969).

Hurricane Helene left a path of destruction in her wake. Our inherited condo in St. Pete, which my sister occupies, sustained a lot of damage. 2 feet of water in the parking lot so her car is trashed and the electrical is shot, the underground parking lot was flooded (of course (thank goodness she'd moved her car out - though some folks didn't), the seawall was ripped apart, pool decking was ripped up, the pool overflowed with sea water, the fencing is gone as well as balcony railings, trees and shrubs were stripped of leaves.

Here at home, we broke high heat records with triple-digit temps all weekend. The National Weather Service (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts that will continue through the coming weekend. We're a good 10 °  above normal. 'Course, Project 2025 would do away with the NOAA and so we won't have to worry about those kinds of things.

The plus side: The pool is warm enough for lounging.

Happy Monday!
