So, as a writer --- doing this blog makes me one --- it is once again time to remind people that there are others who so vehemently disapprove of the written word, considering them pornographic
that not only do they vote to ban books, some vote to burn them.
What an interesting turn of events to have happen as both the U.S. and France prepared for Veteran's Day to honor those who fought against that very thing.
Here are the books that are immediately on the list: Toni Morrison’s novel “The Bluest Eye”; “Gender Queer,” a graphic memoir by Maia Kobabe; “Beyond Magenta: Transgender Teens Speak Out” by Susan Kuklin; “Lawn Boy” by Jonathan Evison; and “A Lesson Before Dying” by Ernest J. Gaines; “Good Trouble: Lessons From the Civil Rights Playbook” by Christopher Noxon.
"Call Me By Your Name" by Andre Aciman and Toni Morrison's "Beloved" are also being decried as unsuitable and dangerous.

Even if you don't want, or intend, to read it.

It is the snake that bites its own tail.
If they were given satisfaction, they would no longer be able to enjoy Trump's false news and false promises.

I'm sure that first photo is a collection of stills from a short film, can't remember what the story line is, but all the pupils are naked while the teacher is clothed. Near the end of the film we see the teacher writing on the chalk-board, naked, but when she turns round to face the class they are all wearing clothes. It's not an English film. Does anyone here know the title of the film ?

The film Anonymous mentions is "Point de Fuite" or "Vanishing Point" from 1987. It is a 10 minute short film from Belgium. It is out there on the internet somewhere.

"Call me by Your Name" was wonderful, totally engrossing. And I really enjoyed the film adaptation as well. Tyranny and closed thinking is everywhere. Resist it. It will fail.
