BACK IN MY DAY, when people wore patchouli, it was to cover up the fact that they were smoking pot. I had an elderly female friend who (back in my day) would take my aerobics class, coming in like she doused herself with the whole bottle. I would go up to her up to her and ask, "Claire! You smokin' pot again?". "Oh! Shut up!" then grin.
