We are in the middle of the annual theatre Fringe Festival. Wednesday evening into Thursday morning (just after midnight) an organic protest in downtown (Fremont Street) turned ugly, disrupted a performance, and ended with people exiting the performance venue and getting roughed up and arrested. Tear gas, flash-bangs, etc, etc. One actor, who also owns a business in the area, was nabbed keys in hand while he was trying to enter his own store. Yes, he's a US citizen. Thank goodness folks acted quickly on his behalf and he was located. Though as of last evening, he still hadn't been released.
The excuse the police used? It was an "unlawful" demonstration. Why? Because, as people were trying to maneuver, some spilled onto the roadway. It's only legal to protest on sidewalks. So, of course, the police had to break it up, right? By herding people into walls while ordering them to leave and stopping them from going anywhere. One friend of mine was heading home on her bike and was ordered to stop. What? "Get out. Leave." When she did, they threw tear gas at her.
Happy Friday the 13th, indeed.
Reports have surfaced that the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Jan 6'ers, etc., will be infiltrating the No Kings protests to create chaos and incite violence. Thus giving the corrupt administration its excuse to declare Insurrection and institute Martial Law.
If you are planning to attend a protest, keep your wits about you. Follow the guidelines set out by the organizers. Do not be sucked into participating in any violence.
I want to see you back here for the Monday Giggles.

Maximus and I are going to our local protest in the next county. Made signs this morning. We plan to be very careful.
I wonder when eating all that fatty foods are going to kick in and clog his arteries good?
We are having breakfast tomorrow and then plan on attending a protest here. I'm seriously reconsidering now moving out of the country. I always thought after my mother passed away I might stay now I'm starting to reconsider. It's Germany all over again.
I will be celebrating the Donald's birthday by serving Lunch to some Real Heroes, the inmates at the Byberry Home for Aged & Infirm Veterans.
We "live in interesting times." Unfortunately
I'd like to go to the local protest tomorrow, but my parents are currently depending upon me for daily assistance, and I'm not willing to risk that.
Good advice!
Saturday will be an interesting day alright.
With all what is going on in USA for sometime, seems that 47 TACO Shitler is waving his dictatorship web all over USA and mostly in Blue States. The word LIBERTY is no more a trade mark of your country and your Constitution being all the time violated by TACO 47 has no more sense and is as valuable as the paper on which it's written on.
Even the four levels of government are no more in charge as only ONE KING in the White House is ruling by his signature on decrets to make it like the real law.
Congress and the Senate are useless to control the king and the SCOTUS are bowing to his crazyness like lakies.
USA is going backward and even no more a democracy which is no more seen by the world as an example of it.
Sure that Putin, Xi and Kim are watching is and are surely applauding and cheering to want is going on in USA.
So sad and really unreal. Could someone please do the US and the entire world a favor on Saturday. So looking forward to your Monday blog post.
Remember that Project 2025 that Trump said he had nothing to do with? Well that’s been in the works for years, which is exactly why they hit the ground running right after the election. And it is escalating just so we can get used to this, first the Mayor, then the House of Representatives Rep, now the US Senator. Trump’s talking about criminal investigations into Biden, and into the NY AG Leticia James. Revenge and retribution? This is retaliation.
Hugs and bisous. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
P.S. MAGA doesn’t own our flag.
And to think that we could have anonymous public online forums for people to raise issues, discuss them like civilised, reasonable people and feedback the people's opinions to government, democratically, where the only "violent" weapons are blunt words and no-one can be identified to take physical retribution against; except no government has provided such an avenue for public expression, leaving it to physical protest which inevitably regresses into physical violence, whether accidentally or deliberately provoked.
I am sitting this one out. Congrats to those who are going to protest.
The cholesterol can't kick in soon enough. When it does, the world will rejoice.
It just keeps getting worse. Then, Sen Lee (R - Utah) tweeted out one of the most crass responses to a shooting from any Repug, ever.
Thank you!!!
Then you are doing your part.
Our two protests (1 in the AM, one in the PM) were pretty peaceful - thank goodness.
Peaceful except for LA - and that didn't take place at one of the organized ones.
Oh, the strongmen dictators all over the world are cheering for our country to fail.
My thoughts exactly.
I hope the Giggles help.
Then the killing of two MInn state legislators, and the response from Mike Lee (R- Utah) was the most disgusting and crass response to a shooting by any Repug, ever; proving how little they care about anything but power.
Hugs and bisous.
Sadly, the violence is being provoked by the person with the loudest megaphone.
Don't feel bad about that. It's dangerous. Our peaceful protesters actually pointed out 2 people with guns and got them arrested before anyone was harmed.
