Another American Treasure is gone. The unique thing about Dolly was her ability to straddle the Culture War fence, and nobody hated her for it. Saw her in concert way back in the 80s when a woman I dated wanted to go. You find a new respect when artists do live performances without the lip-sync, without the hordes of dancers surrounding them.
Plus, she was quite the savvy businessperson, and philanthropist having given away a half Billion dollars and over 332 million books.
