Ejaculation and PSA Levels

Morning

Rick has not been able to post to his blog Sicko Ricko's Crap due to a regional internet outage. The repair ETA is Friday afternoon.

"Since I'll be 40 this year I and decided to go for a full physical. New doc and very thorough. Asked all the right question about sex life and masturbation. Found a hard spot on my left nut so he's sending me for an ultrasound on that. and a blood test with a warning not to nut for at least 48 hours beforehand. what's the deal? Is that for my balls or what?"

Smart doctor you have there! No, he wants you to refrain from ejaculation prior to a blood test because cumming increases the PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) in the bloodstream. And those levels can remain elevated for up to 48 hours.

According to a report by the NIH (National Institute of Health (before wormbrain took over), ejaculation will cause a mild rise in the serum prostate-specific antigen. Certain medications can also increase those levels. But, because most physicians don't warn men, those increases have caused a number of men to be sent for unneeded prostate biopsies.

Be happy your doctor told you not to nut. He just saved you from the anxiety of a false-positive for prostate cancer, and a painful procedure. Facing the possibility of testicular cancer, that's the last thing you need.

So, my advice is: Listen to your doctor. Schedule your blood test far enough ahead of time that you can get your nut beforehand.

Or, wait until after the blood draw.
