Ejaculation and PSA Levels

Morning

Rick has not been able to post to his blog Sicko Ricko's Crap due to a regional internet outage. The repair ETA is Friday afternoon.

"Since I'll be 40 this year I and decided to go for a full physical. New doc and very thorough. Asked all the right question about sex life and masturbation. Found a hard spot on my left nut so he's sending me for an ultrasound on that. and a blood test with a warning not to nut for at least 48 hours beforehand. what's the deal? Is that for my balls or what?"

Smart doctor you have there! No, he wants you to refrain from ejaculation prior to a blood test because cumming increases the PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) in the bloodstream. And those levels can remain elevated for up to 48 hours.

According to a report by the NIH (National Institute of Health (before wormbrain took over), ejaculation will cause a mild rise in the serum prostate-specific antigen. Certain medications can also increase those levels. But, because most physicians don't warn men, those increases have caused a number of men to be sent for unneeded prostate biopsies.

Be happy your doctor told you not to nut. He just saved you from the anxiety of a false-positive for prostate cancer, and a painful procedure. Facing the possibility of testicular cancer, that's the last thing you need.

So, my advice is: Listen to your doctor. Schedule your blood test far enough ahead of time that you can get your nut beforehand.

Or, wait until after the blood draw.

Friday the 13th

Good morning.

It's Friday the 13th. Take extra care today.

"It's coming up on ball check day and mine ache all the time. It's not a "horny" ache, either. No, I'm not jacking off to excess and haven't been kicked in the nuts. I don't feel any lumps anywhere. Any ideas?"

You've done your TSE and didn't notice any lumps. But they ache. Did it hurt to do that gentle squeeze on them?

Did you happen to check your semen for blood? If not, do so.

Whether there's blood or not, I recommend you make an appointment ASAP. Your doctor will do a more learned check. If he doesn't feel anything, no lumps or torsion, he'll send you for an ultrasound to look for anything amiss inside the testicles.

If your balls are sore, the pressure of the wand might hurt a bit. But clench your teeth, squeeze your butt cheeks, and you'll get through it. Better to go through a little discomfort now than waiting until it's too late.

For the rest of you guys out there: It's a good time to do a thorough check.

Of everything.

Make sure there are no lumps or bumps anywhere: Scrotum, shaft, head, foreskin.

Notice anything out of the ordinary? Go see your physician.

Happy Friday!

Chances Are

"There's a pain in my right nut when I cum and its swollen and aches for a while. Any idea whats going on?"

Is there, by any chance, a small bulge or soft lump adjacent to the base of your shaft? Is there pain when you lift something heavy, or bend, or otherwise place pressure in or on the area? Does doing any of those things cause your nut to swell and ache?

If the answer to any one of those questions is "yes," chances are you have an Inguinal Hernia.

Those will not heal on their own. The only way to repair them is through surgery. And waiting can make them worsen over time.  Make an appointment to see your doctor. And, yes, you need to tell him (or her) what activities exacerbate the issue. They'll examine the area by palpating (fingers pressing in and around the inguinal opening). It can make your toes curl (and not in a good way), but you'll have to suck it up.

If that doesn't immediately indicate a hernia, you may be asked to undergo an Ultrasound. A gel will be spread and the wand will be gently slid around the area.

Just a heads-up (no pun intended): It's common to pop wood during this procedure, but I promise you the technician has seen the phenomenon before.

In the meantime, you can find temporary relief by wearing a jockstrap.

Thin, soft, cotton ones, sometimes called a "street jock," is not the way to go.

You'll find better relief with something with a Bike-style.
