I can't even imagine a world with no art. Which is all the more reason why the Republican party's insane. Boy when they crash it's going to be one hell of a hard crash.

While I very much wish that the final set of pics did come from the Pageant of the Masters (in Orange County, CA), they don't; they're from a British television game show starring Jimmy Carr. :)

So many pics to appreciate today. The death statue of Cesare Mancini in Rome with its intricate detailing is amazing, the fringe on the coverlet looks real and what a gorgeous man who unfortunately died at 29. The black and white image of the man underneath him, I've seen before and wow! did that guy get the good genes to create that body! Finally, the two chaps from the "tableaux vivant" festival of arts in Laguna Beach...well, they look like they're having a good time, and who wouldn't with their joy sticks on display for the sake of art. So much fun!

Could only happen in the art colony of liberal Laguna Beach in maga Orange County. There have been attempts to either censor or shut the festival down but they fail miserably.
Male nudity is a festival hallmark and a crowd getter and pleaser.

I was actually in the Pagent of the Masters - I think it was the summer of 1982. I think I was in 3 different things but I wasn't nude in any of them

Though the Pageant has done this type of thing, I should have known that...the background is a dead giveaway.

It's an incredible festival that deserves to continue.

How very cool! It's not an easy job, that's for sure.

The two white statues illustrate that art can have multiple meanings, just like jokes and therefore cannot be cancelled simply based on one of them creating an offended reaction in some people, because it is all up to the interpretation of the beholder: cancel yourself if you don't like it, no-one's forcing you to look, but leave art alone.
