Normal Things

Morning

"Wanted to thank you. Over the weekend my son said can I ask a question and I had the answer for the second time. The first was about the morning hardness and this time it was his first wet dream. So thank you for all the info you provided over the years."

Thanks for being a reader for so long. You're entirely welcome.

Education is the number one reason why I do this. The morning boner, the boners that pop up out of nowhere, the first wet dream....

These things are normal developments, and we should be able to explain them as such without embarrassment.

My how times have changed! When my father gave me "the talk". I think I was 10, maybe 11. All he had was a brochure on jock itch with a male torso on the cover, and the talk lasted about 45 seconds... I remember being seriously disappointed. I snuck into his dresser drawer a few days later to take another look, only to be MORE disappointed that there were no gratuitous images on the inside.

I had to wait for the PSA to come out... https://youtu.be/uCIlKDHZo6o?si=_rMSKFK0TKWuTH5o

I'm glad you're around, doing what you do.

You got more from your father than I did from mine.

The YouTube video is hilarious!

Thanks, Rick.

Well said and I am so glad the fathers today have the decency to talk to their boys about this kind of stuff. It was so different when I was growing up. Kudos to dad.

It does hurt to rehash past posts or topics. I'm sure you're getting new readers all the time....so the education and topics are great for new readers there are just stopping in.

I was lucky, my Dad always kept the door open for me to talk about my concerns and doubts about male body.

Being able to answer questions is good and all, but the trick is to educate a son in advance, so that when these events happen, he doesn't go through the trauma of thinking he is broken and then the shame of having to reveal that broke-ness to his Dad. Instead, a boy can delight in sharing a positive milestone with his Dad when it happens: there's enough trauma in the world without adding to it by being unnecessarily reactive when you already know what will happen in advance.

It seems like more fathers are stepping up to the plate. Certainly doing a better job than back in our day.

We do. And the repugs are trying their best to eliminate it from all avenues.

It does appear that the followers list keeps growing. I sure never imagined this.

You were lucky, indeed.

True. A heads-up would be nice, right? Mothers must educate their daughters about menstruation before they get caught off-guard. You'd think fathers would prepare their sons for what is coming (no pun intended).
