This 'n That

Morning

April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. I won't harp on it, but the monthly Buddy Ball Check might be a bit, um...extra.

According to Slate, the SCOTUS ruling places Conversion Therapy in the realm of First Amendment rights, but Gorsuch, writing for the majority, actually sends the case back down the ladder to the appeals court:

"After this wind-up, the reader might expect Gorsuch to declare that Colorado’s law does not pass strict scrutiny and therefore violates the First Amendment. But he did not. Instead, having walked right up to that point, he stepped back, and sent the case back down to the appeals court, directing it to apply the test instead. He strongly implied that the Colorado ban, and others like it, would not survive this review “as applied” to talk therapy. But he left the question open for the appeals court to answer."

Blogger bots placed yesterday's post "behind the Sensitive Content Warning." First one in a couple of weeks. One has to wonder, was it the nude, the memes, or the SCOTUS mention?

Whatever.
It's been cold and breezy again. Pool temps have dropped back down into the 60s. Naked works but the water is way too cold to get in.

Denied

Good morning.

SCOTUS surprises with a ruling. They refused to take up the Davis case. Now she must pay the $300,000+ awarded (and upheld) by the lower courts to the couple she refused to issue the license to after same-sex marriage became the law of the land. Not only that, but her petition included a section asking for Obergefel to be reversed. DENIED.

SCOTUS and You / Hallowe'en Fun

Morning

With SCOTUS poised to gut more of the Voting Rights Act (Voting Rights Act Faces Near-Death...) --- if not outright overturn it --- and now SCOTUS Sets Date to decide whether to accept the case to overturn Obergefell v Hodges, things continue to look smoggier for civil rights.

While doubtful Obergefell will be overturned, it could happen. Though before same sex marriage would be determined as legal nationwide, they would then have to deal with hearing a new case on the Respect for Marriage Act of 2022. Yet, do not kid yourself. The Christian Nationalists will continue the fight.

When folks said, "They are coming for you," they knew what they were talking about.

Done For

Morning

Brought to my attention by fellow blogger Steve over at All Natural & More, the Supreme Court is about to take up Conversion Therapy.

HuffPost: Supreme Court's Conservatives Seem Ready to Allow Conversion Therapy for LGBTQ Kids.

If those six asswipes support that archaic, Dark Ages bullshit we're done for.

I need some Midweek Mirth to cleanse my palate.
