Today is the final day of Carnivale - or Fat Tuesday as some call it - to utilize the fat from the larder before the weeks of Lent begin.
Originally, it was tossing bead necklaces to women who would lift their tops to show off the boobs.
As people demanded equality....women started tossing those beaded necklaces to guys who would drop trou and show off the goods.
Yeah, public nudity is against the law but, generally, law enforcement looks the other way when it's all in fun.
Extra points (and beads) for boners.
Religious or not, join in the festivities.

A friend recently informed me that, in addition to the beads, Moonpies are sometimes tossed to the festival-goers. They used to toss Cracker Jacks but too many people were getting injured by the corners of the box so it was outlawed.
Being French, I say Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras, in French, also called Shrove Tuesday in English) and therefore, according to you, I am a some if it is those who call it like that.
I am delighted to learn that, just like Mr. Jourdain in "Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme" by Molière, when he had just learnt that all language would be classified according to the way of saying it, in poetry or in prose and was delighted to note that he made prose at any time without knowing it. Like Mr. Jourdain to his teacher, I am indebted to you the most in the world for teaching me this.
No beads in our celebrations, or by exception.
