Is masturbation bad for your health? No. Is it good for your health? Yes. Will abstaining hurt you? No. Will masturbation help you? Yes.
Healthline brings us the article, "Does Masturbation Have Positive or Negative Effects on the Brain?"
Turns out that, no negative effects on the brain are evident. What a surprise. There's a whole host of hormones released during masturbation.
"Masturbating can cause you to release healthy amounts of hormones, which is why it can positively affect your mood and physical health.
- Dopamine. This is one of the “happiness hormones” that’s related to your brain’s reward system.
- Endorphins. The body’s natural pain reliever, endorphins also have de-stressing and mood-boosting effects.
- Oxytocin. This hormone is often called the love hormone and is associated with social bonding.
- Testosterone. This hormone is released during sex to improve stamina and arousal. It’s also released when you have sexual fantasies, according to a
2011 study . - Prolactin. A hormone that plays an important role in lactation, prolactin also influences your mood and immune system."
I've posted here about guys jacking off at the office in order to achieve greater concentration on a project. Or to calm nerves before a presentation. Turns out, those guys are smarter than anyone thought.
"You might have heard of “post-nut clarity” — a situation where your brain suddenly feels focused after you have an orgasm.
Indeed, many people find that masturbating helps them concentrate better. As such, they might masturbate before working, studying, or taking a test."
Negative effects? Well, apparently they are tied to social acceptance and religious or spiritual stigmas, and that women shouldn't masturbate. Yes, they should!
This is why making people more aware that masturbation is the most common sexual activity there is, that it's normal and healthy is so important.
So, this weekend, have at it. Indulge your senses.
It'll improve your mental health.

A good friend of mine always jacks off before meetings or huge presentations...he said it really does clear his mind and relaxes him.
I would tend to agree.
It's amazing how quickly consciousness shifts when I start masturbating. In seconds I get focused on my cock and pleasure as cock gets hard. After about 10 minutes there's another slower shift into what is called "goon" state- deep relaxation that comes from focusing on cock. I do a multiple dry orgasmic practice that gives me a little peak every minutes or so, which I think speeds the process along because although the orgasms are small, the cumulative effect is big, probably the result of more of those nice brain secretions!
When I finally ejaculate, after about 3 weeks and 1000 dry orgasms, there is a period of high productivity and clarity that can be devoted to more intellectual projects. Also a loss of vigor and horniness, which is why practice semen retention. I think it takes a long time for my testosterone levels to recover...? Testing is "normal" but I'm suspicious that what my doctor think should be normal of a 77 yo may assume I should be sexually active...?
PS
Thanks for the stairway bating shots. It's one of my bate rituals, sitting on stairs and jacking out an orgasm for each successive tread as I descend!
Doin' it for my health, y'all! Doctor's orders! : ) Cumpletely agree. The more people who understand the health benefits the less there will be the negative emotional consequences brought about by unhealthy puritanical thinking. I hope all is well with you, my Friend. Wishing you and yours a phabilicious weekend! Hugs, Peace and Love, AOM
better than masturbation and healtier is making sex with another person. Happy week end!
Can you ever have too much of a good thing?
Alas yes, too much is always too much.
But it's also true that too few is too few.
Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat. Have a great weekend.
Really great post!
