Tracing (Cock) Shame

1
A very long-time Faithful Reader, in reference to Bring Back the Bulge, suggested the shame and embarrassment we men experience for our equipment can be traced back to the females of our species. Particularly to our mothers. He may be on to something, there.
2
Indeed, as I responded to his email, I clearly recall emerging from my room for a date in a new pair of pants, prominent bulge in the crotch, and my mother's comment: "You want everyone to know what you've got?" Well, the pants were the style of the day, and I shrugged and left.
3
I have earlier memories, as well. Accompanying my mom to a grocery store, digging at an itch in my package, and having her say, "Don't do that, it's not nice." "But it itches!" "I don't care. Stop it. It's not polite to do that in front of people."
4
Being forced to go commando when she hadn't done laundry, my little cock boned and protruding - what's the natural reaction of a kid but to touch it? I didn't know what it was doing, or why. "Stop playing with yourself, it's not nice. It's dirty." Of course, as soon as I was beyond her view, I went right back to playing.
5
Whether simply the natural bulge in our pants
6
scratching an itch,
7
adjusting for comfort,
8
or dealing with a boner,

it seems we were being admonished at every turn for acknowledging what we have between our legs.
12
And, Lordy! when we hit puberty and that perpetual hard-on began, trying to stroke it into submission...it was as if the world would end because we'd discovered pleasure in our cocks.
13
And we had to take our jacking off into hiding.

the fact is among men there's no problems about boners! another reason for being happy to be gay!!!

I can relate to what you say. Growing up in the 40's, all I heard was "down there". Nothing was ever said what was down there, just "down there" Not a word about masturbation, or anything about sex. Had to learn for myself later on. Turned out I was gay from the get go, and haven't looked back since.

LOL, if you were as on the photo N° 8, 10 & 11, your mother wasn't perhaps quite wrong to ask you "You want everyone to know what you've got?"
On the other hand, you've got it from her, isn't it.
You'ld have answered: "I am proud and thankful of what you gave me, Mom!".
I wish you a wondrous day, my dear friend, with a lot of bisous where you can guess.

I believe what you've said to be 100% true. I remember my mom getting on to me about the same thing. How could that type of behavior by our mothers NOT be shaming. It is the beginning of a whole series of shame we all feel about our penis and balls and the feelings associated with them. It is the beginning of neurosis for some men. I know it is not possible but some type of training about how to raise healthy boys should be included in every school curriculum for mothers. Great stuff bro. Wishing a fun hands in the pants day! Hugs and Strokes, AOM

Same story! I was made to feel that my "lower regions" front and back were somehow "unclean"! And when I went to boarding school the priest in charge told us: "Only evil men masturbate"! WOW! I thought that it was the most wonderful experience that I had ever known! Hugs, Patrick

Great post! Like I've always said, what's natural is best.

Guess what guys, we women heard the same thing! We got the same early feelings you all did but just not so obvious.
Your mothers weren't saying anything to you they weren't saying to us, go back and put something on that is decent!!
Have we come any further? Women are criticized just for breastfeeding, still! There is nothing more natural, but many consider it indecent!

@ MFP - Mon ami, I believe, though, that the size of one's male equipment is attributable to one's male lineage. So my big cock is supplied by my father's side of the family - at least he did one thing nice for me and my brother. LOL.

Well, #8 - possibly; #'s 10 and 11 - I don't think mom ever witnessed my boners like that. Though she did tell me once that she saw plenty of my morning wood.

@ Jean - that's the advantage women have over us - we become aroused and there is no hiding it! LOL.

I understand girls experience the same feelings, but do they get taunted and teased and admonished about their equipment? They get to be so proud of their breasts...the first bra, etc. Yet boys are told to hide any trace of bulge.
