With a Purpose

"Why can't guys be honest. I mean, come on, a boner is a boner. Am I right?"

Um, in the most strict sense of the word, yes. But....

The ones that pop up out of nowhere shouldn't be equated to the ones that are sexually induced. Spontaneous erections --- are the ones men get with absolutely no encouragement, meaning they aren't thinking about sex of any kind, they aren't reading something erotic, or looking at something sexually arousing, they aren't playing with their cock.

Sleeping

road vibrations

exercise

or for simple blood-oxygen

in the shower or bath washing the package.

The rest can be considered boners with a purpose.

I know.
But those spontaneous boners kind of go away after what, thirty? I can get a chub if a man I really like leans in, but other than that? Nope.
Nighttime boners? Always. But those don't bother me. I sleep on my side.

XOXO

I love the feeling of walking around with a hard dick whether it's sexually aroused or just because.

Yes, a boner is a boner, and never has a boner come to tell me that he isn't one., but there are different occurrences, different circumstances, different contexts, and so on.

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.
Have a good day.

I like your explanation.

C'mon, men, we all get spontaneous hard ons, especially when we're younger. When are we going to stop acting like there's something wrong with it.

Give me a boner with a purpose any day... as long as it's aimed at my arse!

@ Big Dude - men don't act spontaneously like there is something wrong with it, society has conditioned and still conditions men to react like that, particularly to protect the perceptions of women.

From my perspective, it seems that women generally have an issue with biology and any glimpse of male genitalia, especially when erect, reminds them of it, so society conditions men to hide it to protect women's sensibilities, except in certain situations that women consent to. In other words, women are gradually controlling men and their lives and responses, to meet their own sensitivities.

A boner is not a boner: there is no bone in the human penis.

I would suggest that erections always occur as a result of stimulation, whether that happens consciously, by the man himself, or unconsciously or by external forces: the erectile mechanism is stimulated into action for a host of reasons and all of them quite natural; cause leads to effect independently of what a man may want at the time.

Road vibrations are a classic example of external stimulation causing a response, regardless of whether the man is having erotic thoughts at the time or not.

The prevalence of erections says to me that its a biologically preferred state to theoretically take advantage of any situation or to facilitate a situation.

One of the challenges of society is to accept that erections happen, ignore them if they are not of immediate benefit to an observer, and permit the man exhibiting them an opportunity to deal with them without shame.

@anonymous....we are conditioned to be ashamed, but I don't think that's the only reason. In fact, I'm not sure it even figures into the situation. In my experience, it was more an attempt to stop us from self-pleasure.
