Naked Attitudes

During my infirmary, a radio station I frequently listen to had a couple of discussions which made me want to call in. The question dealt with people bringing their sons and daughters into opposite-gender locker rooms at the gym. The calls on this were interesting to say the least. A very spirited debate over whether those sons and daughters should be exposed to the nudity of a locker room; and whether the men and women in said locker rooms should have to be concerned about being seen by said daughters or sons.

One female caller was spot on, "We're much too inhibited, too hung-up about nudity in this country."

Most thought it was awful and, if a sitter could not be found, then the parents should stay home; that a gym locker room where said sons or daughters could be exposed to naked bodies is no proper place for them. Why, for God's sake??? What are they afraid they'll see? This...

 Or maybe this?

And, of course, as usual that fearful attitude was worse when it came to daughters being in the men's locker room.

A few days later, one of the DJ's had mentioned his parents showing him an old photo album; one in which his folks were vacationing at the beach (long before our DJ had been born). In these pictures, his father wore a Speedo, a tiny, tight, Speedo.

The DJ declares, "Oh, my God! Turn the page, turn the page." My reaction to his reaction was "WTF?" It's as if the DJ did not want to acknowledge that his father had a cock. Ridiculous. What is so awful about seeing a bulge at a man's crotch? I wanted to tell this DJ to "Man the fuck up."
16
Of course, here at Big Whack Attack, I truly believe there should be no hiding of our bodies. We have what we have; what we were born with.

And we strive to get people to adopt a more accepting attitude toward the male package.

Agree with you, bro. This attitude that the nude human body is bad and scary makes for unhealthy people. What is natural is natural and should be celebrated. Wishing you a dick-licious day! Hugs and Strokes, AOM

We have the same word from the same source "tartuffe" to designate a hypocrite who ostensibly and exaggeratedly feigns virtue, especially religious virtue.

Tartuffe, Molière's religious hypocrite, said:
"- Cover up that bosom, which I can't endure to look on.
- By such objects, the souls are wounded.
- And this makes guilty thoughts come to mind."

Nevertheless, by thinking about it more, compared with the religious zealot, the hypocrite has this superiority of knowing that he lies while the religious zealot is so much inhibited and blinded by his religious fanaticism that he believes to detain the truth which justify his spiritual dictatorship which makes his own life and that of the others miserable. How we could make them understand that what is shameful is not the objects of their shames but their shames themselves.

Whishing you a wondrous day, my endlessly interesting friend, with a lot of bisous.

You know that I totally agree with you!
When I was a kid we would go to a local beach. The dressing rooms were men in one and women in the other. When I look back on it...it does surprise me that the men would walk around naked.
(this was years and years ago)
And just form this Gay Guy's view point...I think that is when I became so aware how much I love to look at Dicks!

In the homes of nudists the children see their parents nude and it is part of their lives. In some places in Europe public nudity is accepted in some parks. My own mother never objected to me walking around the home nude though I never saw her nude. My father died while I was still young.

Not sure how I feel about men and women sharing the same open toilets.....sitting side by side while the other takes a crap. But, I do think men not wanting to take their sons into men's locker rooms is beyond ridiculous.

I took my son to swin lessons at the YMCA and they swam nude. No one even commented, like this is how we do it. Now that would never fly. You have a lot of courage for being out front. More on that tomorrow, about courage and freedom of speech. Jean

How about NOT bringing sons and daughters into opposite sex locker rooms because it may make OTHER users/members uncomfortable ??

OTHER people have rights too, you know... ☺☺☺

All very well said - and illustrated!

For. Someone who is just recently becoming comfortable with my own publicly nude body, and comfortable checking out other guys, it still freaks me out for dads to bring their little girls in the locker room when I'm naked, toweling off and drying my dick. Maybe one day I'll get more free, but can't help that short burst of panic when a 4-5 yr old girl comes in. Especially if she makes any comments or stares.

@ Anon - That initial split-second jolt is normal...Fear sets in because of what society has heaped upon us. If we can then make the mental choice to continue on as usual, we make headway.
