Phil (AOM)

It with great, great sadness that I post this. I received the following message from Phil's (AOM) niece late last night:

"Pat,

It is with great sadness that I must write this message. My name is Sarah and I am Phillip's niece. Unfortunately, my uncle passed away on February 5th. My family and I have just begun the process of going through his things and I am absolutely blown away by this life I never knew he had online. I always thought my uncle was a lonely person, but it turns out he has more friends than I can ever hope to have in my life. Thank you for loving my uncle. Thank you for being there.

Much love,

Sarah"

Phil was kind, gentle, helpful, and funny. I know we shared so many readers and followers. Some of us had established quite a friendship with him via email. He will be missed by many!

Take a few minutes to remember our friend and fellow blogger. Have a cup of tea in his honor, and think of the beauty he brought to the world through his posts.

Phil, my blogger buddy, I'm going to sorely miss you. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." Hugs, licks and strokes, bro - WHK

The photos today all came from Phil.

I might not have my say so as I was quite an erratic reader of his blog but, as you wrote, the posts of his I read left me with the feeling of a kind and helpful man. A gentleman.
My heart goes out for his family and friends.

Oh no!
So sad. I'm glad his niece found out that he was not a lonely man, that there were people who cared about him and that wanted to know what he had to say!
He will be missed.

XOXO

That is very sad news. AOM was one of my favorite blogs to visit daily.

OMG! This is such a sad and bad news.

I've written a comment to his niece on his website last night.

I've known Phil for so many years, since 2002 when he had some of his first website and we did write to each other and exchanged so many pics and ideas too.

RIP dear Phil, you who was so generous to give us such nice Peace messages and heart warming words too.
Hope that God will make you a nice place in heaven and make you the nicest cups of tea that you liked so much here on Earth.

I'm going to bed and my prayers will go for Phil.

Anonymous: I too read his blog first thing every day without fail. My
mornings will not be the same anymore. You could tell how
much he cared about all of us by the things he posted.
He wanted all of us to be positive and help our fellow man.
He will be missed.

Pat,
We have been very concerned about Phil and our worst fears have materialized. Thank you for sharing the sad news for your fitting tribute. Phil was a treasure, with always a kind and thoughtful word and inspiring photograph, and will be sorely missed. May his memory be for a blessing and may we think of him when performing good deeds. Such a tragic loss. May Phil's family and friends be comforted during this difficult time. As you so aptly say, have a cup of tea, take a deep breath, meditate and reflect on life, do something kind for yourself and others. Rest in peace and tranquility Phil.
Your friend, Andy

I'm so sorry to hear Phil passed away. I visit five blogs everyday. You and AOM are two of them. I'm happy that his niece now knows he had many friends.

Rest in Peace, Phil.

Thank you so much for this tribute. Sarah reached out to me as well last night. I knew a message like hers might come eventually since I had not heard from him at all for three weeks. Phil was just the most amazing person. I am better for knowing him. I am so sad right now because a great light has gone out but he would not want us to mourn him but to celebrate his life. I think this is very hard for Sarah and her mother, Phil’s sister, because I don’t think they realized the world he created with AOM. They are comforted knowing how much he was loved and admired by so many.

I loved Phil for more than 15 years, and I was knowing only very few things of what his niece reveals us.

Thank you, Sarah, for putting an end, however unpleasant it is, to our worries that have been growing day after day for the past month.

Phil will have had at least one last satisfaction: the defeat of Trump.

Our words can’t take away the pain of losing a loved one, but they can go a long way toward helping grieving persons of his family feel loved and supported.

My deepest condolences, Sarah.

Hugs and bisous, my darling chéri, as I used to write to Phil.

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.

Thanks for letting us know. This is such sad news. I always turn to you first each day, and then I would open his blog for the consistent inspiration and beauty. As I was viewing your post today, the first thought that I had, was that you were doing an homage to him with your pictures, and then I found out they were from him. I'm not sure there will ever be a blogger quite like him. Rest in peace dear friend.

I am naturally moved to tears losing Phil; his blog was the grace note of my mornings. Our correspondence was thoughtful and inspiring. You were always looking in with a comment and affirmation upon this loving man with his balance of music, photography, inspiration and humor. I always felt astonished that he could do this for his good and that of the many around the world. His memory is always going to be a blessing.

The last thing I did last night was visit the AOM site and saw Sarah’s message.

Someone wrote “please don’t close down the site” and someone else suggested that a book be made of all of his entries.
What a body of work he left, I don’t know anyone else who had a site like his. It was one of a kind and it would be really sad if it was lost.

I should be so lucky to have so many kind words said for me. RIP

Hugs and bisous

Our condolences to Sarah and everyone that Phil loved. May you all draw strength and peace from the love that everyone had for Phil. Grief is the price we pay for love.

As always.

What a nice tribute. Thanks for sharing these. Sorry for your loss. He seemed like a very sweet man.

@ Jean - His blog is special and deserves to remain. I've had added correspondence with Sarah and asked her to please leave the blog active. She agreed this is his legacy to the world. As of late last night there were over 50 comments left from the far reaches of the earth. As you say, I should be so lucky to have that many people say such things when my days here are over. Hugs and bisous.

I suppose he had the covid? He always seemed to have it together with peace and relaxing and always said namaste at the end.

whkattk said...

@ Anon, 2-27, 12:27 - No, no COVID. Bronchitis led to pneumonia. That, exacerbated by congestive heart trouble.

I'm very sad to read the bad news about Phil's passing! With AOM he has created an outstandig blog with many stimulating contributions for an international public community. We will miss his appealing posts with sensual aesthetical pictures along with his spiritual meditadtions. And also his good wishes at the end: "Joy, Love and Peace!"
May he now Rest In Peace! - RIP!

Thanks, Pat, for your commemoration post and your appreciation to Phil and his inspiring blog AOM!
Keep on his spirit in your blog and your ongoing contributions!
