Each month I encourage guy to inspect their balls. It's important for continuing health.
Every so often, along with the ball check, I suggest a breast self-exam
Previous thought was if a man lived long enough he would develop prostate cancer. Some men do, some men don't. But David, a Faithful Reader from Down Under, sent interesting information on men and prostate cancer. We've also known that certain forms of prostate cancer are genetic.
You've probably seen the commercials about Ibrance - the medication for advanced breast cancer in both women and men with the HR+ and HER2- genes. Well, folks, it looks like science has discovered, as reported in the Bay State Banner, Feb 19, 2021, that:
'If your father or brother have ever been diagnosed with prostate cancer, your risk of prostate cancer doubles. If two or more close male relatives have been diagnosed, your risk increases five-fold. If you have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer, and/or BRCA1 or 2 genes, your risk is also greater.'
The moral of this story is to take the simple precaution of getting a regular prostate exam and PSA blood test
if there is a family history of breast or ovarian cancer. Don't let it slide.

As always, the best advice for our continued good health. Here's a question related to the last two pictures of this post. From the hundreds of times I've seen the doctor in the exam room, I have never been asked to put my feet or legs in the stirrups. Aren't those just used for women's exams? Have you or any of your readers used the stirrups, or are they just used in gay porn to better display the naughty bits of the male crotch?
Always very good advice.
I think we just assume the balls is it. But I know three different guys over the years that have had breast cancer.
OMG yes.
It's not just testicles or prostate. Men can also get breast cancer. And I had no idea that it can run in the family.
Never too alert, right?
XOXO
The first photo gives a whole new meaning to "putting it all on the table."
thank you for the reminders. Hugs and bisous.
That is two things genetically speaking that I am most fortunate to not have to worry about... knock on wood. No history of either breast cancer or prostate cancer in my family... either side. So Phew. That said, I play with my prostate so much it's like a daily massage. So far, so good...
Good advice, don't let it slide. I know someone who has to carry his balls in a wheelbarrow in front of him, and believe me, that is nothing to envy.
Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.
thanks!
@ Milleson - I've never been put into the stirrups...always just told to drop my pants and lean over the table. I wonder if being in stirrups might be a little easier.
@ MFP - We had a case here that made national news as he desperately looked for a surgeon to take care of the problem. Finally, one in Los Angeles agreed. The man was very relieved to go back to a normal life. Hugs and bisous.
Yep, it's important, indeed 👌🏻
And, guys, if you have a foreskin, check that too. Any discoloration or change of sensitivity on the inside of either the foreskin or the glans should be told to your doctor.
