Trying to Accomplish

Lots of really thoughtful responses to yesterday's post. I think the writer will have a really good idea of how to move forward --- whether that is to talk to his dad or just let it go.
The idea of feeling shame over ones body is a harmful one. Just like women, men are bombarded with the same messages of what we should look like: pumped-up, muscular, and ripped bodies.

When, in fact, most of us do not look like that.

Body positivity should be promoted. Overcoming the shame and embarrassment of our genitals. Because men are bombarded with those "values," as well. Male frontal nudity is still way more rare than female nudity, still looked down upon as lewd or disgusting and, in many cases, sexual orientation is called into question. Just because they aren't ashamed to be naked in front of other men.

I hope that's really what the writer is trying to accomplish.

On the subject of body positivity, with me you preach a convinced, but I fear that the number of people to be convinced remains dizzying. If that snowballs, do you ever know…

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.

Peens are meant to be seen! But we need to respect the wishes of everyone, no matter their origin. It's not ours to question. I adore real bodies... gym bunnies bore me to no end. Men, flaws and all, are what get my throat a humming... if you know what I mean. :) Kizzes.

This is not just a male phenomenon. I bet most men don't know that most women's bras have a full thin foam lining, to hide women's nipples. How do you think these folks would handle male frontal nudity?

hugs and bisous.

In film, the tradition is "no female under 18 or male over 14" should be nude, because of the assumption that female bodies are sexualized and male bodies are not.

Actually, sexual abuse can also lead to shame (and other nasty stuff, such as self-harm concentrated around the genitalia), and for reasons not entirely known, it was more common for Boomer/Xer kids to be molested. Or even just the idea that one's genitals are somehow "wrong", such as being too small, or being circumcised when one's peers are not or vice versa.

@ Anon - Now that you point it out, I can recognize those age restrictions in film - and it (sort of) makes sense.

@ Jean - Well, being married and having to do laundry (LOL), I knew about the think lining. But did not know the actual reason behind it. Sheesh... But as for people handling male frontal - we can know from the typical reaction to a simple bulge in the crotch. Hugs and bisous.

Please consider removing Big Dotatos from your blog list. Their post from the last day is about screwing passed out guys - which is essentially rape. You really don't want this type of behaviour associated with your blog.

re: the squeamishness to show a bulge in the crotch--

The 1960s TV series BATMAN got a lot of complaints about the crotch bulges of Batman, Robin, and Frank (The Riddler) Gorshin in his leotard costume. Bulge, bulge, bulge!

Now, men on New York subways are requested to sit like a lady, and not spread their knees. Scrunch up those man-parts so no one can see them!

Would be interesting if all fabrics suddenly went 100% transparent!

Body positivity is fundamental.
And I have never thought about what one of the comments say: no females under 18 and no males over 14 should be nude in film. Whoa.

XOXO

@ Paul, September 10, 2021 at 8:24 AM - It's ridiculous, isn't it? "Manspreading," they call it. My answer to them: Sorry but I'm not about to crush my nuts just so you don't have to see the bulge in my crotch - which supposed to be there, btw.
