All Shapes and Sizes

It's awards season. Seems interest in these is waning among the general populace. But interest in the products the awards are meant to promote is not. 'Cause, that's what the awards are all about, really. Promoting the films and TV shows, not necessarily the actors.

That's something even some of the actors seem to forget. (I'm looking at you Kate Blanchett, for your "acceptance" speech at the Critics Choice Awards.)

But there's one actor this year who, I hope, will finally get his due.

Brendan Fraser has been to hell and and back and survived. Numerous surgeries, the death of his mother, the dissolution of his marriage, and --- worst of all --- sexual assault backstage by the then-CEO of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (presenters of the Golden Globes). Fraser reported it. Nothing was done. The organization never even apologized.

Fraser's star turn in The Whale, playing a gay man who has been so ashamed in his sexuality that he hid behind food, is amazing. That the man could come back from being sexually assaulted by a gay man and then play a gay man is nothing short of astonishing.

There is no excuse for shaming over someone's sexual orientation. When it comes to acting in theatre, film, or TV, a gay man can play straight (they did it for decades in Hollywood), a straight man can play gay.

The Kinsey Scale should be proof enough for that.

There should be no room for body shaming, either.

We come in all body shapes and sizes.

We come in all sizes and ages. Young people should realize that they will age quicker than they imagine. Used to think my parents were old and I am now 10 years older then they were then and I don't think I am old at all. Dad bods are sexy.

I have loved Brandon Fraser ever since he came out in the movies in Gods and Monsters. The dynamic between he and Ian McKellen was incredible. But however did I miss the story about him being sexually assaulted. I don't recall over here in about it?

As far as award shows I don't watch them. It's nothing but a glorified horse and pony show if you ask me. Maybe you're supposed to entertain us. If I'm entertained and enjoy it job accomplished.

And my friend will give you a major Kudos on this post. I will have to tell him to look at it. He blames bloggers online magazines and porn sites for only ever pushing the hot, ripped and beautiful built man with huge cocks. He always demands know why other men and average men and everyday men are not featured. As I told you last week I tend to agree. Is it any Wonder there's such body shaming these days?

@ Hooter - "...and ages." That, too.

@ Maddie - The assault happened in 2003 during a Golden Globes luncheon. Of course, the awards shows are dog and pony shows --- to promote the products. They should be entertaining, though, and sometimes they get a little too full of themselves.

The reason my blog is what it is: There are thousands of places online to ogle naked men. I want to inform and help as well as entertain.

The makeup and prostetics to make Brandon Fraser look that «fat» is from a French Canadian make up man living here in Montreal.

He gave an interview on TV sets here and said that the first time he put on those prostetics, it took 7 hours and Brandon was very helpfull.
As time went by, he reduced the make up sessions to less than 3 hours and Fraser was thankful for it.

Me too I like Brandon in his movies and like Miss Maddy I found him very sexy in Gods and Monsters. I even bought the DVD.

Love Brendan Fraser and The Whale is a must see.
Also, could you direct the gentleman in the green baseball cap to my general direction? I will take it from there...

XOXO

Fraser was the victim of "no good deed goes unpunished", he spoke out about being assaulted because he felt that is something no one should have to endure male/female "young/old, etc. Instead, he was labeled a troublemaker and ignored. Hugs and bisous.

@ Jean - True. And may he find total redemption with the upcoming SAG awards and Oscars. Hugs and bisous.

@ Six - and here I was sure you'd be asking for the ginger in the last photo. LOL. XOXO

@ JiEL - It's been reported that he's one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. His performance in "Gods and Monsters" was one of his first dramatic roles...which should've garnered him at least a nomination. I'm hoping he gets this.

I used to think the Oscars were the final word on cinema... but frankly... for decades its been more misses than hits. I think the credibility factor is gone, but then they said the same thing the year The Greatest Show On Earth won best picture. Bottom line... it's no different than homecoming king... just a popularity contest. I think Kate Hepburn had the best attitude about these things... she simply refused to participate. As for straight men playing gay? Well... that would be a long and sometimes loud argument with me. It's not okay, anymore. There are so many gay men who are actors... we don't need straight men representing us anymore. Gay-face is not okay. And I know you disagree. I accept that. We're good. :)
