The Only Way

I made it to the appointment; only a cleaning. But I get to return next week. Evidently the last two hygienists didn't do a very good job - though I was charged for it. Consequently, next week is No Charge.

Larry, over at The Unashamed Male, posted today about protesting against bans on public nudity.

From Unashamed Male

From Unashamed Male

As someone who prefers being nude and loves nude beaches, I can agree with the protesters. The clarion cry for "naturists," as we prefer to call ourselves, is Nude Isn't Lewd.

But the reason nudity is frowned upon and banned with few exceptions is because of people engaging in  sexual activity in public places.

The city-owned portion of Black's Beach in So Cal was shut down to nudity because masturbation and blow jobs could be seen from the road above.

Boners happen.

It's an accepted physiological thing over which men have zero control. Naturist etiquette at nude beaches and other clothing optional places says you should cover it with a towel or lie on your stomach until it dissipates. Or go somewhere more private to take care of it.

Personally, I don't think it should be necessary to hide a boner.

I do think if a guy feels the need to take care of it, he (and a partner, if one is along) should find a more private place.

It really is the only way that bans would be lifted.

Well, being that people are so puritanical when it comes to the body, it's no surprise.
I have never been to a nudist beach. I imagine I'd concentrate on just laying down and soaking up the sun with the occasional look at the eye candy?

XOXO

This post reminded me on that one time we were on a nudist beach, my former companion and I many years ago. It was late in the afternoon and we were packing up to leave.
I saw two old ladies walking by with a youngster of about 8 who were lookking at the top of the dunes, looking and sounding shocked before quickly turning around. I looked up and then saw two guys having sex, obviously in order to be seen. The act itself did not shock me. The situation and its purpose did.
Were it today, I’d go to them with an angrily face and slap them, only to make them think twice about the consequences of their act.
Yesterday you wrote about mutual consent. I am sure you agree that it applies to exhibitionism too. It’s quite an innocent kink in itself, only if all viewers are aware of what they get into. What starts as a 'helping hand’ in a bosquet can end up as group sex, as long as it stays between aware and consensual adults.

We had to swim naked in high school 45yrs ago,I did everything possible to keep things flaccid in front of 30 other naked young men.Quite a challenge

@ Six - That's pretty much what everyone does. With occasional dips into the water, of course. XOXO

@ Laurent - I agree wholeheartedly. Exhibitionists should be in a place where anyone in viewing distance is knowingly and willingly there for the show. If nothing else, folks like that should be told to "put that way or take it somewhere else."
I guess it all falls within the scope of consent.

@ Anon - We didn't have a pool at our school. But I can imagine the challenge. I know at the Y where swimming naked was required, some guys did get a bit of a boner but no one ever said anything that I knew about.

If it's an all-male situation, nobody should have to hide a sex act from other homosexuals. Our society is repressive, and we need to learn the male sex acts are not something we should have to hide from one another. But in front of women,(even lesbians and/or small kids, no. Heterosexual males I don't give a crap about.

.
Was there a sidewalk along the road that people were strolling along? Or were cars slowing down to look, causing traffic jams?
.
Or were the cops and City Fathers the only ones who paid attention to what could be seen from the road??

I have friends who go to Sandy Hook, I have been once. Boners are fine...but the last two years they have been having issues because of nude families, and straight couple there witnessing gay men now engaging in sex and oral sex and jacking off. The clothing optional part is now in jeopardy. A shame the real naturists will now pay the price because some can't follow the rules. If those men want that aspect then they should go a all gay beach or Fire Island and not ruin for people like you Pat.

The culture in the US, nudity is limited, and pretty much for consenting adults vs other countries where nudity can be a family affair. Also swim attire can vary widely around the world.
Respect your location. Hugs and bisous.

At the Rock River swimming holes in Newfane Vt there is public access along the south side of the river, although in practice it's very rare for people not comfortable with nudity to go past the "clothing optional" signs after the first, family, swimming hole. Half a mile upstream there have been as many as 100 naked men on a sunny weekend day (although we're recovering from a major flood 11 days ago that damaged the access trail and the State is repaving our parking area this summer with occasional closures. Our motto about open sexual activity is "get a tree" and we purchased the woods above the gay swimming hole 5 years ago to get control of the land. In 2007 a group of gay men had the opportunity to buy the access path to 5 swimming holes, and two of the beaches. We acquired the main gay beach along with the woods in 2018 with contributions from 200 men. We work closely with abutters and the town to manage access for all. All of the land is in conservation. www.rockriverpreservation.org I've been going to the River for 40 years, and have been on the Board of RRP for the last 10 years, helping to keep the area accessible.

In San Francisco, the public nudity ban had a more pragmatic reason: Men were sitting everywhere, leaving skid marks and germs. So it wasn't even the sex parts there.

@Anon 1032: I was a little late to naked swimming at the Y (born in '83) but my friends and I did go skinny dipping in a pond on my family's property, far from roads or property lines. Just guys, if you brought a girl swimming like that, people thought you were doing more.

I mean, granted, we did a lot of mutual jo, frot, naked wrestling, and docking in this storage shed (and I'm half-convinced Dad knew what we were doing and kept it half-empty as a matter of safety, putting most of the heavy or sharp equipment in ANOTHER shed), but we, I don't know, we didn't see it as the same as intercourse. Heh, like Eden, once a woman shows up, it loses the innocence.

It's not for tomorrow, for now it's not even allowed in our own garden unless it's surrounded by a wall high enough that our neighbor can't get an eyeful.

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.
Nude or not, enjoy a delightful day.

Discretion - please - discretion. Don't ruin it for everyone.

@ Paulmmn - No there is a turn-off / parking area to look out over the Pacific. The beach is at the bottom of a very high cliff. So, people would park for the Scenic View and get scenery they weren't expecting.

whkattk said...

@ fullmooonma - That is a wonderful thing you've been doing to ensure the place(s) stay accessible and clothing optional. Bravo!

whkattk said...

@ nakedswimmer - I didn't know that about San Francisco.... Yeah, that's just nasty. Just like at a gym or day spa, put a towel down.

nakedswimmer said...

I should mention we don't use a towel in inipi (sweat lodge), just a piece of string (formerly sinew) to keep the foreskin covering the glans. But an inipi is designed to be disposable.

Basically, there is nothing wrong with sexual activity. That’s how we are made. But just now, we are not ready for sexual activities in public. Time will come that we can enjoy it openly. Till then, keep it in adult environments and have fun.

@ clearplast - Exactly.
