Final Results

Though the final results may not be available for several more days...

it does not appear as though women were quite as fired up over Roe as everyone was led to believe.

Nor were the young folks as riled about gun control as we were led to believe.

It seems not much is going to change in D.C.

Except a split Congress.

Keep an eye on it all

Because, either way, there will be consequences.

I think the days are getting anything done in this country or behind us. I do not know why people are not more fired up about their personal lives being risked, unless of course everybody just enjoys decisions being made for them. If we have split Congress, and both sides cannot work together then we are screwed. If both parties are just going to be partisan especially in the political environment these days nothing's going to get done because both sides are so stubborn they won't work with the other side. There's not enough candidates who are truly bipartisan. I was glad however that Shapiro and Fetterman won in PA. And once I'm back I plan on meeting one of the volunteers I worked with for coffee. I think we might have more than politics in common, wink!

I have the impression of reading AOM, who was always heavily involved in the various elections, and the nostalgia is bittersweet.

Am relieved that Pennsylvania went blue. Am still upset that so many people blindly follow a pied piper. Losers follow losers.

I think the most important part of your post is “we were led to believe”. It’s time for the media to go back to reporting the news and stop trying to lead us to believe anything.

It could have been better, but it certainly could have been worse. Hold to your center, and keep up your good work.

Seeing these cock pictures sort of eases the political pain. At least Pennsylvania came through.

I cannot believe people did not really take this seriously. Was the turnout high?? Yes. But the crazies were out in force. Ugh.

XOXO

Perspective: Clinton lost 54 House seats in his midterms, Obama lost 64 House Seats in his midterms.
BOTH were re-elected.

It looks like Biden may have lost a net of about five seats so far, which is a colossal win!! It looks like lots of folks showed up and voted!! If the Democrats can hang onto the Senate, that's where the big powerhouse is along with the White House. All is certainly not lost, suppose Biden had to make up a 50-60 seat LOSS next elections!! Also now Trump and DeSantis are at war.

Hope springs... hugs and bisous.

Your take is too pessimistic. Most pundits consider this a great victory; the winds were against the Dems and it's likely that Roe, Jan 6, and student debt forgiveness helped stem the traditional backlash against the incumbent party.

@ Jean - All excellent examples. And I love that Trump and DeSantis are bickering! Hugs and bisous.

@ Anon - You're right and I've been wishing for that for months now. I initially thought News Nation would be that - but, alas! it doesn't seem to be the strictly news that I'd hoped for.

@ Scott - Right you are - as others are, also. Perhaps if I had continued to watch the news it wouldn't have seemed so bleak.

I mean, we're more concerned with police reform. Hard to talk about gun control when the gun is in the hand of the state.
