Get a Grip

A niece, who had always been a bright light in my life, was killed yesterday. She died trying to stop a man from abusing his young son - that was how she rolled. We haven't learned all the details, yet, in the end - - - as Hillary once asked, "Does it really matter at this point?" But, I know one thing for sure: She always thought life does and should go on. Don't stop living because someone you love has died.

So, in that spirit... The latest AARP magazine has a series of ways to stay healthy, and I want to share some of them with you - - because, yes, they'll help maintain your man parts, too.

Get a Grip: Having a firm handshake is a sign of vitality and strength. Studies have shown a weak grip puts you at risk of heart attack and stroke. But, as the blurb states, "It's overall strength..." So, practice that grip, folks. Practice that grip.

And in doing so you assist in keeping the package in good shape.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have nieces I adore and I can't imagine losing one of them like that. I am so glad you are still here. It's nice to see old friends when I returned.

So sorry to hear about your niece. Violence in families is a very big problem over here. Great set today. Hugs, Patrick

We adults are seldom called upon to show such courage. Real heros don't think of themselves when they put themselves in danger. So sad for her and your family. This is what you do for someone you love.

I admire the courage, the dignity and the the utmost modesty with which you evoke this abominable event.
I thought that I shall speak to you what I think about the rape, the incest, the pedophilia, the carrying of weapons, the death penalty but I doubt that that is the good day.
Courage, my friend. I know how you feel, I went through these feelings myself, and I am wholeheartedly with you.
With love, as much bisous as you want.

My condolences to you on the loss my friend. But I firmly believe in what you mention in your post. On the other front, I've been told my hand shake is strong.

@TAYLOR and jlo - thank you two very much.

Actually, thank you to everyone who has left such kind words on the loss of my niece. The words, the virtual hugs - they all help to ease the sense of sorrow.

How awful. Your niece is a hero. There are a lot of them out there, and most of them are not famous. As somebody once said, doing the right thing is easy when there's nothing at stake.
