How Are You?

Winter forces me inside for the bulk of the time.

I read

Listen to music.
Yes, I still have turntable and vinyl.

I admit I spend a lot of time staring out the window in anticipation of being able to get outside and gather with friends.

I thought I'd ask what do you do to pass the time?

But, more importantly:

How are you?

Yay for vinyl!
I have noticed an increase on listening to my records, especially in the evening. I'm still working on some projects, so I kind of still have kind of a work routine (even though it's only two or three hours and I always end up checking the blogs LOL).
I have kept my going out for a quick walk, though. Even in the snow. It revitalizes me.

XOXO

I am great. Currently at my sister's house in Madison. Even at home, though... I am good. I love my little bunker. I love my routine. It rarely changes. Up, coffee, work, write, clean-up, walk dog, work out, work, coffee with Mom and the ex, dinner, write, read, sleep. I love reading. Oh, and my sister gave me a kindle, so now I am going to buy some of the vintage books I have been writing about. Chin up. Winter will be over before you know it.

I live in Montreal and I take care not to go in crowded places.

I remain safe in my big appartment on the second floor while my landlord is on the first floor.
I take care of my 4 cats and try to make my place clean and causy.
I watch TV, read a bit and do a lot of browsing in internet.

I go on my Facebook to talk to my friends in France and my sister who lives in Quebec city at 150 miles from me.
I also saw my elder son and my 9yo grand son two days ago.

Here we can visit one home to another home with safe people.

So my only outdoor activity is to walk in the park in front of my place and go to the grocery once a week always safe wearing a mask.
Here, since December 25 till January 11, only essential commercial places are open and they only have the right to sell essential goods.

Even Walmart cannot sell other things than very essential goods.

We all hope that all the vaccins coming out, we will be able to slowly get back to a certain normal life.

Must say that here in Canada, it's not as worse as in USA.

I'm a little sad, to tell you the truth. It's cold in Milan and it snowed last Monday. We are just the beginning of winter, the days are short and I am already tired of the dark and the cold. I can't wait for the end of all these winter holidays and for normal life. In Italy they end with the Epiphany (January 6th). I'm tired.

I'm great. Hanging out, still able to wash cars, today is 40 degrees. Other than
that I do all the things you mentioned in your post.

Hang in there. Let the knowledge that Trump will be gone in 22 days give you
hope and something to look forward to. Have a happy new year, and stay safe.

In France, the Agate storm left around 34,000 homes without electricity, in Brittany, Normandy, the North and Pas-de-Calais, then in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Alsace Franche Comté. We endured winds of 120 km / hour, and weeks of almost uninterrupted rain. The problem is when my dog refuses to go outside.

I occupy my leisure time like you, that is to say as I can.

It's 2020 that does not want us to regret it. It can count on me?

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.

Normally, I am a voracious reader. Since the lockdown began last March, I have not been able to read a single novel. Some sort of major seismic shift has occurred for me. Don't get me wrong - I do read the newspaper every morning and my email and all my usual blogs, including this one. But my normal desire to read fiction has just dried up. I am completely at a loss to explain it.

Also, I normally attend, as well as perform in, a great many theatrical productions. Now, I find myself obsessively scouring the internet for any kind of theatrical experience online. Plays, lectures, concerts, Zoom readings, filmed versions of plays: anything to fill the void.

And it's not really doing the trick. It's not filling the void at all because there is no coming together as an audience to share the collective experience of a story well told.

This feels like grieving. It feels like loss.

It leaves me feeling empty and very, very sad.

I have been on hiatus from work since
December 1st; but will be back working from home January 4th. We have been doing the things that Pat mentions in this post
...reading and listening to music. I still run every morning and evening and Bruce cycles along with me. We have started going for long walks after lunch. We split our time between the lake and here in town. At the lake there are projects that we take care of; the next being bottling a new batch of beer and a white and a red wine. The red wine was made using wild fruit and the beer was made using hops that we grew and apples from our own trees.

My 94 year old mother and her care giver are here until after New Years. While getting a little frail Mom is sharp as a razor. She and Bruce have been playing the same game of Gin Rummy for decades. Their scores are soon approaching the 1,000,000,000 mark...but the game is far from over! They always play in the kitchen where they are close to the coffee. It's a special blend of coffee....the % of brandy varies from pot to pot. My mother claims that when Bruce is losing he adds more brandy to give himself an edge.

That's about it for us...

Happy New Year everyone!

Bryn

Anon friend here - I'm hanging in there, but not feeling super great. I used to like visiting the gym and going swimming but most of that has had the fun factor sucked out of it nowadays. Now with reduced active life, I feel my creaking joints more than I remember a year ago. Indoors I enjoy some art, craft, baking, and web browsing. Been starting to get back into some music and trying to organize my digital downloads. I enjoy gardening, and seem to find myself doing something almost year round due to mild weather. On good warm days, I can easily go back outdoors and do something in the garden even if it is just looking or inspecting or visualizing pruning I'll do in spring. Looking for buddies with shared interests.

The boys are start back to college classes online next week. I took the holidays off working from home. We're all doing good. We read, we binge watch shows because the boys convinced me we should cut cable and go to streaming. so far, so good. - Dad
