Early voting here got under way over the weekend. We voted despite the 20-degree drop in temps and 60-mph wind gusts. Yes, there were a few "poll watchers." We ignored them, they ignored us. After all, we are old white folks. From what we were told, the two Black election volunteers were not so lucky being subjected to all kinds of scrutiny and nasty rhetoric.
Upton, over at Wonderland Burlesque, is the latest victim of intimidation having had a singular post about LGBTQ classic literature flagged and unpublished - three times. It's back up again --- for now, anyway.
Sadly, this is where we are in this country today. All we can do is keep fighting and doing our best.

I'm not sure but I think this country could use a good uprising. Trying to get anything done anymore just seems impossible. And it's volunteering was tiring this weekend let me tell you.

I saw some gun men near a voting poll I think in Arizona and I was flabbergasted to see it as it would NEVER be seen here in Canada.
As soon as those thugs would take their guns out they would be immediatly arrested by our policemen. Baring or owning guns is prohibited here.
Only in USA do we see such old «western movie» scenes going on all over your country.

@ JiEL - Yep, Arizona is the worst of them when it comes to the "poll watchers." The lawsuits filed against the organizers last evening, first court hearing is this morning. I'm afraid it's going to be too little, too late.
The U.S. is a VERY dangerous place to visit - especially now. And if the Republicans lose elections it will get much, much worse. All I can say is thank goodness we have a friend in Nova Scotia who is willing to help us relocate if things get too far out of hand.
