What can be seen as "not awkward" is really up to the two of you and how inhibited you are. Like, where I grew up, masturbation (in front of each other or reciprocal) was fine, as were frot, interfemoral, and docking. After a swim at the pond (naked of course), we often wrestled, still naked. However, oral and anal were seen as feminizing the bottom: It was okay to top, so long as you didn't force yourself on anyone, but bottoming had gender implications: Fine if you were openly trans, but guys did not do that.
