"Why oh why does it take so long to get busy again after I cum?"
I don't know your age so I can only address this from a broad standpoint. Once we've progressed beyond puberty (approximately 18 to 20) and Testosterone production begins to wane (approximately 30-ish), the refractory period (the time between an orgasm and the next good, on-demand solid erection) gets longer.
... And longer. ...
And longer.
As long as it's functioning, there's no reason to despair.
Just like all guys, you'll learn to adapt.

I miss my youth.
I confirm the always wise conclusion of Big Whack Attack: as long as it's functioning, there's no reason to despair.
The important thing is to be able to backslide in a reasonable time, it is not a drop of sperm more or less.
Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.
Have a wondrous day.
I think like you said it's all in your age, but that being said if I'm really turned on and with the right partner I can go two or three rounds within an hour. Hell just the other night I think I jacked off two times back to back. So at my age I will take it.
Jeff, the guy waving in the last pic is a fb friend of mine. He sells comic books.
Yeah, Don't despair. The "recharge time," as my Dad called it, can take longer and longer. And the amount of semen discharged might be less in the second ejaculation, even if your cock was good and hard. Do not worry. You're probably just fine. If you are still worried, talk to your MD about it. On a completely different note, seeing all the beautiful hard-ons and semen shots just drives home the beauty of the male, and his essence. Thank you!

@ Rick - Yeah, me too!
My first boyfriend when, I was in college, was in his early 40s. One of the first times we had sex, he didn't cum. I got off twice, being 20 and all, but he was totally content & didn't take me up on my offers to return the favor, that afternoon. He was married to a woman & in an open relationship, and explained: Sometimes it's not about 'goal oriented motion' and getting off, but rather enjoying the total experience & just being together. That happened two or three times over the years we were intimate.
That was a totally new concept for me, and confused me at first. Being young and newly out, it didn't make any sense at all. Now I get it. Sometimes if I am waiting for a rematch, I'll bottom for a bit until the erection comes back. Sometimes being intimate and rolling around for a couple of hours is enough.
There are a couple guys in their late 70s in our nudist/orgy group who still amaze me in this regard. At times they are more horny and have more stamina than I have ever had, ready to go again. It all tends to ebb and flow for us all, tho. Sometimes it's jack off three times a day, can't think of anything else; and other times it might be a few days in between. It's all good!
It's all very good
Hello from West Seattle
I actually enjoy that 'in between' time. Maybe because I like to cuddle and talk and just lay there naked?
XOXO
As long as it’s functioning, it’s great, but just remember use it or lose it!! Hugs and bisous.
My recharge time is way stretched out now, at 80 years. For a couple of days after an ejaculation I pretty much forget I have a cock, and it takes a week or more to get nicely horny again. Have testosterone checked annually and result is "normal" for my age so MD won't medicate. My adaptations are:
- been taking 25 mg of DHEA for 25 years - it's a precursor to testosterone recommended to a friend who did an elaborate hormone replacement protocol to get his levels to a 30 yo level under MD's supervision with lots of testing. For me, the most noticeable effect was it made walking more fluid, and I kept bating a lot
- Cialis, 10 mg daily dose for last 25 years. Since starting enalapril to control blood pressure then my erections were hard to sustain. Cialis fixes that, although isn't completely effective during recharge.
- Multiple dry orgasmic protocol recommended by Bruce P, Grether, Bateworld BateMaster, who I met 20 years ago when he led the bating portion of an erotic workshop. His best instruction series on "mindful masturbation" is found at https://www.eroticengineering.com/9goldenkeys-full The multiple-dry-orgasmic technique is found in the 9th key vid, but I recommend watching the full 45 minute series.
- I ejaculate about once a month, and do about 1500 dry orgasms in 50 sets of 25 or so during the rest of the month
@Anon: You know how they say there's a gay guy in every D&D group? Same principle.
Actually pretty funny story: I was just talking about how Roy Harper (circa 1999) says marriage is "an archaic institution" and "discriminates against gays and lesbians". Definitely raised by Green Arrow.
I wonder if that refractory period is to ensure males in their prime get the most opportunities to impregnate.
Interesting to consider the biological function of women having no refractory period: the mind boggles.
