Own Devices

Today other things are occupying my mind; having trouble concentrating on any particular task.

It's like chaos in my head looking for the right thing that's demanding my attention.

I leave you all to your own devices. Whatever that may be, I hope you have a good day.

I don't like to read you when you're depressed, and the photos aren't enough to console me.

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.
Have a great day.

I hope whatever's on your mind gets resolved positively, Pat. I love the New Joisey guy pretending to read a book. And the scene in Venice with St. Mark's in the background is nice -- that is, if anyone is looking at the background. -Larry

Go shoot a load and maybe that will help you relax and be able to focus. Sometimes a change of scenery will help. We wish you calm.

Focus. It's hard. And when the body is unwilling, it's easy to feel totally overwhelmed. We are just exiting two years of construction and renovations here at our home. I am TOTALLY burned out by it, and discovered I lost all ability to be focused on getting tasks completed. Compounded by my bodies (rapid) aging where joints and muscles are more in agony than not. I started using a written "Daily Task List" several months ago, and I have noticed a marked improvement in my mental clarity. Instead of laying awake at night hoping I remember to do X, Y or Z, I just write them down on the list for the next day. Some days I may have 10 or more things on the list, some days just one or two. And as I complete them and cross them off, there is just a nice sense of accomplishment. And if I miss a task or two, give full permission to just let it go - put them on the next days list.

I also include honoring movement and exploring meditation on the list every day. Naps DO count!

I've always loved that picture of the guy in the subway, as it reminds me of a moment on the regional rail when I was coming out of Philly one night. Some guy had shorts on and his goodies were almost out as much as that guy. The train being empty, it was evident it was a cruising situation.

I hate the way other concerns can interfere with my bate life! Difficult meeting on Tuesday, rebounded Wednesday, gardening gig today then drive to VT to update an outdoor sign at the Rock River swimming hole, then driving across NH Friday to meet up with my husband who's been in Maine all week... I think worrying more is part of aging?

@ MFP - It's not depression this time... Just so many things going on right now that I seem to be having trouble focusing. Hugs and bisous.

@ Rad - I may have to take your suggestion. I think it's the only way I'm going to get anything accomplished.

@ Jean - Oh, the news.... Oy! Hugs and bisous.

@ Hugh - I wish I could be one of those people who worries less as I age.

@ Larry - I didn't know that was Venice and St. Marks but I knew I liked it and wished I could live right there where he is.
