I'm assuming that everyone who runs a Google blog received the same notice.
"If you have a Google account that hasn't been used in recent years, it may get deleted later this year under a new Google policy. Google announced in May that it will be deleting accounts that have been "inactive" for at least two years. Inactive accounts have a better chance of being compromised, the company stated. Beginning in December 2023... "
For those who keep the blog active, there's nothing to worry about.
But, I thought about Phil's AOM Morning Dew. It would be sad to lose that. His blog was filled with so much beauty and positivity.
If anyone has kept in touch with his niece, would you send her a request to do some kind of update every so often so his blog doesn't disappear?

I got the same message.
It's probably because Google wants to free up some space. There were blogs I followed back in 2010 that are not active anymore. It'll be a pity.

I never even thought about that but you're right. It's nice to go back and revisit logs as sort of a museum of sorts. When our dear friend and bloggerAnne Marie died I often still visit her blog just for chits and giggles. I guess her blog and her late husband's will both disappear. And it's sad to see all the Bots that are taking over the comments on both of their blogs
We both pee in the shower. Two in our shower is a problem since it is in the tub, small and hard to change places. When we traveled to Alabama our host gave us the master suite and we were able to use the large shower for fun. Love the shower scene with one washing the other.
@ MFP - The comments at AOM have to be released in order for that to make a difference. That hasn't been done in 18 months. It's going to be very sad to see that blog disappear. Hugs and bisous.
@ Maddie - I think if I get terminally ill, I will try to hand over the reigns here. Maybe we all should make provisions.....
Pat, Phil's AOM Morning Dew is still up and his niece did set up an email account to contact her: forphilaom.gmail.com I also received the Google update about accounts and I do not have a blog. Hard to believe his niece's final post was on February 26, 2021.
The years certainly fly by, I just looked and realized there are a couple of blogs that disappeared, and I'm not even sure I know when that happened. i.e. Treasure Trail for example. And I remember years ago there was one called Just a Jeep guy (?). They all had their own style, Phil @ AOM certainly did, shame to see them go after so many years of daily work. You're right Pat, I think we just assumed once we were gone our blogs would always live on. Could you imagine people finding our blogs years from now once we're gone... they'd be like who are the hell were these horny yo-yos!!!!!
I always think it's better had a backup and migrate the blog to a proper website with WordPress, in Abu eventuality , you have your post safe and someone can be continue with your legacy
For a while I had a post scheduled in the event of my death, just to let everyone know why I'm not posting anymore.
@ Milleson - I sent a couple of emails and haven't received a response.
I got the google announcement too. And I also thought about the blog of AOM. It's great that it's still online and can be visited. But the danger of deletion unfortunately hovers over it like a sword of Damocles.
Thanks, Pat, for at least trying to contact the niece. I hope a message gets through and she reads it in time and can then act accordingly. Let's stay in good hope.

Someone copy the deceased's blog and re-post to another (archival) platform, similar to the way https://www.nifty.org exists for stories.
Yes, the platform needs to support pix. Copy the pix, not just links.
Also, back up to DVD or other solid state media.
Back up your own blogs, too.
Since we know that we have until December - we can screen shot and copy links to as much stuff as we can. I loved his blogs and his tenderness. We corresponded a few times. I was going to send him a couple DVDs I had purchased so, he could post scenes and photos on the blog but, understandably - he kept private.
I knew things were up when he kept taking breaks for not feeling well. He shock/surprise at his second online life seems to want her to keep things at an arm's distance. The photos and the way he posted them were art - we may see that go. The information, we can capture and share elsewhere. If we all took a piece. And, I believe that the admin can be transferred to someone else but, that would take trust and finding the time to make it happen.
I always loved his links of spirituality and our humanity - bringing the two together in love and friendship. I will copy that stuff so, it isn't lost to me. I did join a bators blog/website. I can share through there to start.
