As we are smack in the middle of the season where we all indulge, making promises of hitting the gym in January, it's seems a good time to revisit the topic of body image. And, Faithful Reader Jean has sent me the perfect prompt article from Huffington Post to do so.

Meat, a London e-zine is promoting its third Calendar. It is, of course, a gay publication - and, while the gay community is very tough, when it comes to looks and age, the related body shaming affects most men. The gay guys expect the hot and hunky porn actor; the rest expect they have to look like Chris Hemsworth in Thor in order to attract women.
So, Meat has done a calendar for 2018 featuring us, the non-air brushed "regular guy;" the ones with perhaps soft middles

Taking care of yourself, showing a bit of pride in appearance is one thing, but we don't all look like Hemsworth and there is nothing in the wide world wrong with that.

Do a little manscaping or grooming, if that's your preference. But, don't allow yourself to be shamed into unrealistic expectations to look like this:

how can you blame who loves Chris Hemsworth?
Me too I'd love to look like him.
Great post!
I was never over-concerned about my body, though I did watch my weight! Great post of "regular guys"! Storms overnight, temperatures down, but VERY humid still! Thanks for your visit and comment.
Yep, just like the article said, "Confidence is sexy – so own what you’ve got and be proud, lads!”
Along with that, the more you like someone the better they look. So kindness and humor are good companions too.
Hugs and bisous dear French Patrick.
Jean is right. A good post too. Body image has spun way out of control.
There are no unrealistic expectations, I think that you call so the expectations whose realization have to be expected during all our lifetime. Hope is what makes us live, and despair leads to death.
Egoistically, (since it is for extending my life expectancy), I hope that you will enjoy a wondrous day, my darlings Jean and Pat. Love, hugs and bisous.
I agree with you about loving your body. I have massage clients who apologize for their bodies and I try to reassure them that there is nothing to be apologizing about. Great post!
Excellent article, bro. I hope all is well with you and yours. I wish you a lovely bonerific day! Hugs, Licks, and Strokes, AOM
@ Gabriel - I have worried about that when my weight has spun out of control..."Oh, my God, what is this guy going to think when he see this lying on the table???" Yet, it has never deterred them. Maybe it's the boner that pops up each and every time! LOL.
