With Your Parts Working

The final post of 2017. It's been an interesting year, to say the least. We've dealt with a man in the Oval Office who has (by current count) lied on an average of 5 times each day, spent approximately $92 million (of taxpayer dollars) on 112 golf trips to his own properties, thereby lining his own pockets; a large loss of respect around the world for our country; a severe ever-blurring of the separation of church and state by he and his Republican-led congressional delegation.... Oh, the list could stretch for pages and pages. But, we concern ourselves with more personal topics.
Here at Big Whack Attack, I choose to concentrate on promoting healthy attitudes toward male nudity, promoting acceptance of the normal functioning of male parts, education of things which can (and do) go wrong with said parts, and acceptance of the blurred lines of sexual orientation.

I hope I've at least partially achieved that goal. As we bring the year to a close and look forward, I thank all of the blog followers, all of my Faithful Readers who join the conversation with their comments and emails.
Have a terrific New Year's Eve. If you party, do so safely - don't drink too much alcohol.
If you do, please drink responsibly and don't drive.
Come back in January safe, in good health, and with your parts working as they should.

In "A cult of ignorance" Isaac Azimov wrote: There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."
It was in Newsweek (21 January 21th 1980), therefore it's probably not related to the man in the Oval Office who confuses meteo and climate, but certainly related to the fact that he has been elected.
As Winston S Churchill said it (11 November 1947) "Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."

Courage, 2018 will be the year of... The year of what will happen, obviously, and I wish you, my darlings Jean and Pat, that it will be as good as possible for you and your country.

Yes, Patrick, but it goes both ways, no? In America at least, a century ago, the intellectual class were near unanimous in their support for eugenics. If you were black or Indian or Catholic or Jewish or first- or second-generation or even from the wrong region, you were part of a quota, and no more than that quota would be allowed in any institution of higher learning.

Hmm, Buck v. Bell is still on the books, no?

The intellectual class earned every bit of scorn heaped on it. Even today, you have latter-day eugenists as the "center". All of that was before Trump. So were trade deals that promoted sex trafficking, such as NAFTA.

It's always hilarious when white people pretend all of this began with Trump. Or "Oh, we're from the Northeast or the West Coast (or the South, even though 2016 should've quashed that idiocy), we can't possibly be racist." r/atheism all over again...
