Veteran's Day

Today is Veteran's Day in the United States.

We celebrate those who have served.

And, believe me, it is not always an easy life.

We celebrate those who are serving. They sacrifice so much so the rest of us can go on with our lives without too much concern.

We often get complacent.

But we should always be looking over our shoulders.

And that is what our military does for us.

Veteran's Day is November 11. Why this particular day? Because World War I - the war to end all wars (we should've been so lucky!) - officially ended on November 11, at 11:00PM: 11-11 at 11pm.

Please, if you see a Veteran, if you know a Veteran, let them know you appreciate what they've done, what they've gone through, what they've sacrificed.

It is appropriate to say,

"Thank you for your service."

but also say,

"Never forget."

Actually, I think the official end was at 11 a.m. The important thing though is that it ended.

You said "Never forget". Is it dramatic if I forget the lame duck?

More seriously I agree with all that you said.

Hugs and bisous my darlings Jean and Pat.

They give so much and are often under-appreciated.

Thank you for this post Pat.
Wearing a poppy for a few days each year. Perhaps attending a service. So little compared to what our veterans go through.

We really need to be thankful for their service.
Also, men in uniform? Yum.

XOXO
