Alternatives to razors

"I saw my dad shaving his dick and balls and he had a total hard-on. It's the first time I ever seen him with a boner. When I asked why he shaved everything he said it's more comfortable. He showed me how to do it which was great (easier when its hard he said). But the razor burn every day sucks. Aren't there other ways?"

It is more comfortable - in several ways. Not as hot (hair is an insulator), less sweaty (hair is an insulator), so less scratching of the crotch. Hair can chafe during sexual activity --- both your cock and a woman's vagina.

Shaving with a hard-on is better. It stretches the skin tight so the razor glides easier and smoother. Razor burn? If you use too much pressure, you're scraping off a layer of skin. Same as shaving your face, let the weight of the razor do the work.

There are alternatives. Some guys pluck. Some guys get waxed. Or go for sugaring. And the aestheticians rather expect and prefer you to get an erection.

Some go for laser hair removal - which is permanent after about 7 sessions. It's not painful (or shouldn't be, anyway), but it can be pricey.

The bad news: Laser hair removal will not work on Blond, Grey, or White hair.

The good news: There are now lasers approved for in-home use. They can be pricey - the good ones, anyway. But doing it yourselves can save quite a bit of money. Even your mom could use it. Maybe that would be a good enough excuse to get Dad to pay for it.

If you opt to continue with the razor, put some lotion on your cock and scrotum after you get out of the shower. You should be using lotion anyway, btw, to keep the skin moist and soft --- especially if you're cut. In which case, you should also be using Vitamin E oil on the head. Yes, that would be in addition to the body lotion.

I use Nair for sensitive areas. Just pat it on (don't rub it in)let it set the amount of time on the directions. Rinse it all off in the shower, swiping it off with the sponge that is included. Easier than shaving. When people ask if my carpet matches the drapes I tell them I have hard wood floors down there.

I'm glad your first commentator had such a relaxed relationship with his father! And the father's relaxed attitude towards his son seeing him with a boner and a razor in his hands! And their joint (!) attitude towards dad teaching son how to shave his pubes.

As far as razor burn is concerned, if I'm feeling kinky, I'll just use a dry razor; no soap or lotion. And no razor burn! As you say, you have to let the razor do the work! In my case, it's not being shaved but the feelings actually doing the shaving that matter!

I usually only shave my shaft and balls. When I shave the rest, I don't have razor burn, but ingrown hairs when they start growing out.

Although a man with shaved pubes has a certain attraction, I'm also attracted to men who let it all grow!

The man with jeans, raising his black shirt, showing off his cock, with a hairy shaft and dark pubes making a nest for it to relax in, is one I'd enjoy getting to know!

I used to use a razor but eventually switched to a clipper on the shortest setting.

OMG, my friend! What an absolutely incoherent and useless article! Boys shave their balls. Help them learn how to do it safely & correctly. How about an article showing an actual tutorial? I think that would be more helpful, & more appreciated! Please post a follow-up article, offering some REAL advice for those wishing to remove excess hair 'down there'.

I shave daily. Here a few rules. Do it daily. Stay on top of it. Use a new razor blade - nothing a week old. Using a nice sharp blade makes it easier for the razor to do its job. Let the razor do all the work. Don't press. Don't go against the grain. Don't overwork an area.

Doing it every day means.... if you miss something, you'll catch it tomorrow.

After, clean with soap and water then use some type of moisturizer. Avoid ones with a lot of chemicals and any acids or alcohol.

You don't have to be hard. Just hold your dick by the head and lift.

Try aloe, too. I used to get razor burn all the time. Then, I started to discover all the tricks I just laid out for you. I haven't had razor burn in years and I do it every day.

Too hot?? Is that another result of global warming?
Not many good solutions, shaving only, removes the hair just about at the skin surface and it grows out really quickly. And the growing out can be really itchy.
Getting a wax literally pulls it out, and it takes longer to grow back. But also ingrown hairs can be another whole problem.
Depilatory Creams are smelly but they do dissolve the hair with about the grow-back time as getting a waxing. I wonder if just simply trimming it very close would be the better solution. Just from my perspective, it doesn't look quite natural with absolutely no hair at all.

Happy weekend. Hugs and bisous. Long live the Queen!

Gillette used to have instructions on its website for shaving down below. Most likely they still do.

Yes, shaving is imho much more comfortable than letting the bush bush out.
Flash you talked about moisturizer and the special need if you are circumcised.
In our buddy ball check group, I encourage our circumcised members (pun intended) to use vitamin E oil as well. In fact I encourage all the guys in our group to use it.
Best

How about respecting the bush and just leaving it alone?

I have shaved my cock, but the stubble the next day was itchy and annoying. But I'm pretty hairy and as I've aged hair has started growing up may shaft so I had to figure out an alternative.

I've been tweezing the 100+ hairs on my shaft for many years now. The first few pulls on a given hair give a little pain jolt, but pretty soon the nerves get pulled out and it's just a feeling of pressure. And the hairs get finer and finer - hard to even see or feel except in bright sunlight. I tend to tweeze every couple of weeks when the hairs are about 1/4" long, but some escape detection and get longer. I do this for two reasons - keeping the bush at the base make my cock look longer, and longer hairs get pulled and irritated by the thousand plus daily bate strokes. Tweezing works better with a boner, and it's also one of the side benefits of the practice!

That leaves excess hair on my balls and around all the way around my perineum and rosebud which keeps area damp and itchy in sweaty weather. For that I have electric hair clippers. I use the 1/4" comb on the clippers and leave a nice soft fuzz coating the area - seems to be the ideal length to excite my super sensitive scrotum!

Hey, the rising sun is streaming in at a low angle, perfect time to pluck! 130 hair harvest this morning, including a lot on my foreskin that are usually too fine to see. The shaft feels so smooth - I'm going to treat it to some lotion!

I’m always baffled when people say shaving is better when hard. I always end up getting nicks and bleeding when I do it that way. It’s much more comfortable to do when flaccid. I actually prefer waxing because it lasts longer, with the downside being you have to let it grow out a fair amount before doing it again so you can’t be smooth ALL the time.

And what do you think of those who, after shaving their dick and balls to regain their immature preadolescent pubis, let their beards grow as if they had wanted to relocate their pubic hair?

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.

While I have tried the totally smooth look, I have to admit for me that I like my look of having a manicured lawn! LOL!

Yikes! No way. Not for me, anyway.

Just to add my own routine: I shave the shaft and scrotum and trim the rest. The prepubescent look is pretty awful, IMO. I started laser treatments and then couldn't afford to finish. It wasn't until I purchased the home laser, and had gone grey, that they told me it wouldn't work and I should return it. Full refund, though.

The few times in my life I’ve shaved my junk, the novelty wears off after a few days and I let it grow back, putting up with the itch until it grows out. I admit the silky smoothness is a turn-on. On the practical point, I found getting hard makes it easier to get to the base of my cock, and the tighter scrotal skin poses less of a risk of cuts.

Be really careful with hair-removal creams. The thinness of scrotal skin seems to make it more susceptible to chemical injury. Gave myself a mild burn the only time I tried it.

I've always thought that the best way to shave a testicle is to pull the skin taut, to remove the wrinkles. Wrinkles are a razor's best friend! Once you remove the wrinkles, shave the spot exposed. Then move on to the next spot, once again, removing the wrinkles. While the shaft is relatively 'flat' territory, those wrinkly testicles are just waiting for a nick! But in most of the pictures of shaving testicles, it appears the shaver is saying "damn the wrinkles; full speed ahead!"

Been manscaping for years now. I use a fine sized electric clipper plus moisturizing lotion before and after. BTW you should use moisturizer even if you have a foreskin as it helps both the inside skin and the glans maintain softness and smoothness.

Joining this a couple days late...however.... I don't have a problem with shaving my pubes only twice a week...usually Wednesday, and usually in the bathtub. And, believe it or not, Nivea has a body shaving stick (that's also the name) which works really well. And I slather on body lotion afterwards. Didn't know about the Vitamin E. Will try it, though. And, as I learned from an ex-boyfriend from years ago, pube-shaving your buddy is great foreplay....
