He's a Survivor

A Faithful Reader has made a request that I do a post about prostate cancer. You see, he's a survivor, and he wants all the readers here to be aware and informed. He forwarded a short, comedic clip.
Then I found another.
We can turn to humor to broach many difficult topics to begin discussions. As my Faithful Reader pointed out, the medical community suggests men over 50 get an annual Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) - - - but, it can't hurt to get a baseline at a younger age.

And, get started with the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test to form a baseline. Yes, there are many schools of thought on both - the age, the reliability, etc, but, guys, don't mess around with your health. That's all we want you to bear in mind.

Thank you, Faithful Reader. We hope you are faring well.

I think if a man cums at least twice or trice a week, he has not problems!

The risk is increased if we are of Afro-American origin, and reduced if we are of Asian origin.
We cannot change our origin but we can reduce our consumption of fats, we can consume a lot of fruits, vegetables, legumes, walnut, tomatoes, food rich in whole grains and of fish, we can cease to smoke...
And, as you said it we can have an annual Digital Rectal Exam (DRE)and an annual Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test.

Love, hugs and bisous, my darlings ean and Pat.

Maybe a new person to your Blog will read it for the first time. They may even check the comments, there’s a lot to learn here. Thanks for the continuing education, hugs and bisous.

Always great to be reminded to take care of our health with regular checkups. (And the visuals are nice too! LOL!)

A piece of advice for gay men having a PSA test - don't do test right after getting fucked, like I did.

It showed an elevated PSA (8 or 9?) and I went through 3 or 4 annual biopsies by a Harvard Medical school doc. He found cells that were wonky, but not cancerous. Eventually he said that in his experience, since the condition was not progressing it wasn't likely to turn into cancer, and there was no point to further biopsies. At my age, early 60's, all biopsies showed abnormal cells.

My own diagnosis was that my prostate had taken a battering before the test and the elevated PSA result indicated that it was healing. Further PSA tests were in range for a few years. My HMO now recommends annual digital exams for me.

I've got several friends who were tested, received treatment, and wouldn't be alive today without it.

PS In case you're worried about a biopsy, they weren't very uncomfortable for a gay man who liked things up his butt and had trained it to relax. It kind of felt like my prostate was getting whacked by a rubber band when they took the samples. The Doc and assistant had great beside manner. The most disconcerting thing was blood in my come for a week.

PPS

I'm also reminded of my friend, Eric Mainard, who was an master of anal massage techniques at the Body Electric school. He also had a part-time job at a midwestern medical school teaching students how to do digital rectal exams, so there's hope for the medical profession!

@ fullmoonma - thank you for such a well-thought and stated comment. I think even some heterosexual men may profit from that. Lot's of straight guys do prostate massage - and it is possible to get a bit carried away.

Thanks for posting. Well done! Guys will get a more accurate PSA if they avoid sex or ejaculation for 72 hours before the blood test.--so I am told.
