Good For You

The clouds dissipated yesterday in early afternoon and things warmed up. A step in the right direction.

*******************

While the social media sites are trying their best to cut down on the "adult content" (Blogger has done so in the past), while some politicians are right now debating "free speech" (so they can say whatever nutty, offensive things they want), while some are trying to shame folks when it comes to sexual content, some people and publications are telling us erotica (or whatever you want to call it) is actually good for you. Whether consumed in words or visual content.

Take this series, Adult Entertainment and You, at Healthline. Gabriell Kessel has done the research for you and authored this informative series. Her bottom line take: Porn is good for you in many ways.

It can turn you on 👀 It can affirm sexual orientation 👀 It can Boost Self-esteem 👀 It can improve your relationship with your partner(s)

She suggests ways to improve your enjoyment of erotica. Masturbate 👀 Grab Toys 👀 Grab Lube

But, as is being recently touted, it should be viewed "ethically." Meaning, they think you should pay for the content. It helps the companies to continue to produce. It helps the performers - many of whom are striking out on their own because some porn producers pay their actors a pittance.

But, whatever choice you make, Kessler says, "We live in a  pretty damn sex-negative world..." so she has recommendations for eradicating that sense of shame.

"Try

  • unfollowing puritanical social media accounts and replacing them with sex education accounts
  • learning about and speaking out against the violence against sex workers, trans women, and femmes
  • joining or beginning a sex education book club
  • working with a sex-positive therapist

You might even try talking about sex with your partners and friends."

Sex is part of a healthy, adjusted life. Learn to enjoy it, and enjoy yourself.

I was aware that tumblr destroyed itself when it kicked off all the adult content (I left)... but who else is limiting adult content? I hope blogger doesn't try that again. I ruined a large number of old posts trying to scrub my sight. Makes me sad. Some of those pics were awesome.

It's bad enough that most men (hetero) have to pay for sex one way or another, but monetisation of vicarious sex seems to want all sexual experience to be paid for: what's next, a tax on male masturbation?

I blame society for not finding a way to support all the people equally, contributing what they can through personal interest as both occupation and fulfilment, instead of slaving at work they hate simply to survive or trying to extract money from others in order to be more wealthy.

Well, just like everything else in life, porn has its bad sides... a lot of them, actually. 🤷‍♂️ And none were listed above so, make sure you do your research, ya'll and stay safe and sane. 😉

@ Upton - From what I understand YouTube and IG are at it.

Your favorite rock star hating his manager and/or record label was kayfabe. In the real world, performers have to eat.

@ Anon - I agree 100%. Anyone who works in the creative arts industry has bills to pay like everyone else. It is unfair to expect them to give 100% of their content away for free 100% of the time.
