Stroker Guilt

Urban word of the day (a couple weeks ago): Stroker Guilt. This begins in puberty when we're told emphatically and repeatedly that jacking off is wrong, dirty, disgusting, and sinful; the worst thing we can do to a young guy just discovering the pleasurable sensations of his body.

It's why young men are so ashamed of their bodies, so shy in a locker room or gym shower.

They've been pummeled with the idea that the normal functioning of their cock is horrible.

Then, of course, they mature and marry and a new badgering begins: When are you going to give us grandchildren? Because now - all of a sudden - the things hanging from the abdomen are good.
And the normal functioning is something to be proud of.
And to celebrate.
Learning about your body and its response to all manner of stimulation is a good thing. If you have the opportunity to mentor, be open and honest. Take the time to teach them that boners are good;
that not getting them is cause for concern.
That touching and caressing themselves is normal, and one of the most natural things in life.

I have never felt myself guilty because of masturbation

Excellent, bro. You are speaking truth. I know I suffered years from guilt and shame. It is INSANE and actually ABUSE to do this to young human beings causing them to feel guilt and shame over what is natural and beautiful. Thanks for promoting positive healthy attitude. Wishing you a JizzTastic Day! Hugs, Licks, and Strokes, AOM

Wonderful advice! If only every young boy could be told these things, how better a world we would have! I know that my mother knew that I masturbated but she never said anything about it (my father died when I was 10 years old). It was not till I went to boarding school that we were told by the priest in charge, "Only evil men masturbate"! And "Wet Dreams" were "Nocturnal POLUTION"! I hope the house is returning to usual after all the problems!

Mental health good here. You would think older generations would have encouraged masturbation since extra marital sex was taboo. Problem was, they seemed to think anything sex related was bad. So here's to mental health and use it or lose it. Hugs and bisous dear Pat and French Patrick.

What a thought-provoking post. It is true that when we were kids (I'm old, and I hope that things were different for newer generations). When I first discovered my sexuality I also discovered a hand massage vibrator that my parents had. It was heavenly. Whenever I used it, my parents pounded on the locked bathroom door. Masturbation was such a shameful thing at that age. Perhaps it was because of my shame of being gay? And my parents incessant intrusions when I was jacking off.

I hope today's children do not feel shame about their bodies and discovering their sexuality. Once I became an adult and could live alone (before having a mate), I celebrated masturbation.

Just as this posting encourages. Thank you!

I haven't chimed in in a while. Now that I have custody of both boys, my sons are free to jack off like normal guys their age. Their mom may have gon ebat-shit crazy over it, but in my house they're entitled to be typical horny teenagers. I discuss sex with them in honest and open terms. I hope that translates to better relationships for them when they get married and that their own sons (if they have them) will be taught the same, which is to enjoy their bodies. - Dad

@ Mark - We are made to feel enormous guilt for our sexual awakening - which we all experience, and it's beyond me that anyone could still demonize masturbation today. The physical ability itself should be celebrated.

@ Jean - How correct you are. Good to hear you are remaining of good mental health!

@ Dad - thank you for returning to comment. I think you've done your sons an enormous favor by encouraging them to explore their bodies through masturbation. It's the best sexual learning experience we can have.
