A Layer of Shaming

Courtesy of Boston Globe
The news of the fire destroying so much of the iconic Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral is sad. So sad, I cried to see such beauty damaged.
***************
And, speaking of beauty.... Richard Madden,
an actor in Game of Thrones (whose character has already been killed off) and the upcoming Rocketman (biopic of Elton John) has done his share of nude scenes.
We always hear of women's plight in having to lose weight and be model perfect. In a recent interview in Vogue, Madden said,
"I find myself with actor friends – after we’ve done a kind of barely eating, working-out-twice-a-day, no-carbing thing for these scenes – looking at each other going: ‘We’re just feeding this same shit that we’re against.’”
“I’ve done numerous jobs where you’re told to lose weight and get to the gym,” Madden continued, “it doesn’t just happen to women, it happens to men all the time as well.”'

This form of body-shaming, though we're slowly emerging from hiding men's genitals on the "big screen"

as if they're something lewd, crude, and disgusting,
adds a layer of shaming men must somehow overcome. IMO, this is part of the reason so many men hide behind towels in gym locker rooms.
I hope Madden and other actors get heard, though. Because we aren't all built like porn stars.

And our cocks are nothing to be ashamed of.

It is so sad to see such beauty destroyed. Good message on loving our bodies as we are. Thanks for all your positive messages that we need to continue to hear. Wishing you a super duper day, my Friend. Hugs, Licks, and Strokes, AOM

I have been moved by what you said about Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral. All Americans I know have well reacted. Even Trump who proposed a cure (the use of flying water tankers) that would have been worse than the disease, but, on a very exceptional basis, I do not doubt that he had good intentions.

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.

Some interesting facts about Notre Dame, the church is the property of the government of France.
The billionaire François-Henri Pinault announced plans to pledge €100 million towards renovation and called for a joint effort to fund repairs. Soon after, LVMH owner and billionaire Bernard Arnault and his family pledged another €200 million for the restoration of "this extraordinary cathedral, which is a symbol of France, of its heritage and of French unity". In just 24 hours they are past the $600 million mark for donations.

Hugs and bisous.

Male frontal nudity still seems so taboo in mainstream media compared to female nudity. The human body is beautiful and I hope more actors become brave to bare all as needed in movies.

@ MFP - Poor thing, he simply can't help it. He really doesn't know any better. This was along the lines of we don't sweep our forests to prevent fires. He really is a bit of a simpleton, albeit a very dangerous one.

@JeanWM
You are right, all the churches built before the 9th of December 1905 Concordat, belong to the French State, in this case under the responsibility of the city of Paris.
If a proof was needed, I can add that I have just heard that Trump has offered the help of the USA to the Pope.
Bisous.
