Perfection

“Comfortable in your own skin.” This is a line we hear a lot, particularly in reference to women, or sexual orientation. But there’s so much more to it than that, isn’t there?

Learning to be comfortable with our bodies is just as tough for us guys as it is for you ladies. You didn’t know that, did you gals? But it’s true. Witness the rapid increase in sales of men’s cosmetics, the “manscaping” we’ve all begun to do, the growth in male plastic surgery; all in the name of better body image, of chasing our idea of perfection.

We’re concerned about what we look like, whether it’s walking through the mall or on the beach, or in the locker room at the gym. We worry about the beer-belly, the love handles, and, of course, the size of our cocks (is it too thin, too thick, too short, not hard enough). Some of us even worry about the looks of our balls: Are they too small, too big, do they hang too low or not low enough.

My personal idea of perfection runs more toward the dancer, or swimmer. Most likely because I was a dancer at one time. But regardless of how toned and limber my body had been ‘back in the day’ I never thought I even came close to perfect; my eyes too small, my nose too big; my lips too thin, my ears large; my jaw nowhere near square enough.

But no matter if we ever achieve that ideal, youth fades. My once-lithe body has slipped and drooped; the love handles are bigger and impossible to get rid of now. I keep a good firm grip on what I can (yes, that for sure!), though.

The point here is this, guys: Don’t over-worry. Learn to be comfortable with yourself and you’ll find a whole new attitude on life. It’s such a freeing feeling. You’ll be able to walk through the locker room, or be in the gang shower, or sunbathe on that nude beach.

Don’t become obsessed with chasing perfection, because somewhere out there...

Just for Fun

I really need to lighten things up a bit. Whew…all this posting about maladies is getting depressing! So, here’s a post to get you to smile a bit.

Leave it to the administration to try to take the fun out of getting your rocks off, eh?

What do you think? Is he looking for a heartbeat - or brain waves?

They'll certainly draw the gay and bi crowd with this!

A Rainbow Cock...Fly that from your flagpole!

If you're a man and you say you don't love dick - look down and then I dare you to say it again.

This guy must be beating his meat constantly!

Have a great day, guys!!! Spend it doing something you enjoy...
Stroking...

...and cumming.

Another Prostate Study

And while we’re on the subject of male cancers…another new study released by the federal government reports that taking large doses of Vitamin E, which has been long-touted as a virtual wonder drug against cancer, heart disease, dementia, and other ailments, increased the risk of developing prostate cancer in middle-aged men by 17%.

Dr Erik Klein, of the famed Cleveland Clinic said, regarding the study, “You really have to question now how taking vitamin E will help someone.”

The findings were reported in the Journal of American Medical Association. These are the results of a study launched in 2001 by the National Institutes of Health to study prostate cancer, after lab studies and [some] clinical data indicated the antioxidant vitamin E and selenium might protect against prostate cancer.

Of course some scientists and the dietary supplements industry question the validity of the study – that’s pretty much a given, isn’t it? But, given the track record of dietary studies should give one pause, no matter what group is conducting the research and filing the report. For years eggs were good. So was coffee. Then in the 1990’s they were both terrible. Now both are good again.

Ingesting the vitamin may be good for protecting heart health and preventing other maladies, but if it increases the risk of prostate cancer, is it worth the risk? If you’re a middle-aged man (50+) and you’ve been taking a vitamin E tablet every day, the best thing to do in a case like this is discuss it with your doctor on your next visit. If you’re a young guy, protecting your prostate and keeping it healthy (that’s why you jack off to supplement your sex life – and you do, don’t you? Don’t you??), well, it’s a step in the right direction if you want to maintain the ability to get those steel-hard boners and continue blasting out those exquisite spurts of cum.

I wouldn’t fret, but it may be worth having a discussion with your doctor about it. Broach the subject with something like, “I heard about this study on prostate health, that taking vitamin E…”

Suspect Report

Last week I read an article in my local newspaper that, at first, got me a little cranky and then just outright pissed me off. Right after the (little known) September dedication as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, no less.

Maybe that’s our problem – too many “awareness” dedications instead of a steady stream of information being published by the media.

Anyway, this new report (released Friday, October 7, by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force) claims that screening for prostate cancer via a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood test is too costly for our American society; in unnecessary surgeries and treatments for prostate cancer. They further claim, “For men 50 to 69 years old, the task force found that "reduction in prostate cancer mortality 10 years after screening is small to none."

I think someone forgot to tell my brother’s doctor. He insisted on doing a PSA during a routine exam even though there had been no symptoms (no pain, no enlargement, no difficulties in trying to take a leak, no blood in the urine or semen, no lumps detected during the DRE (Digital Rectal Exam). Astronomical levels (10+) were listed on the report and he got referred for a biopsy. The biopsy came back Positive for the most aggressive type of prostate cancer. The tumor was growing on the backside of the gland, in a place non-detectable by the DRE. Surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic removed his prostate and lymph nodes (which had already been invaded) and, thankfully, he’s still alive. Had that PSA screening not been done, within three to six months he would’ve been listed as “terminal.”

Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I’d much rather go through an eventually unnecessary, uncomfortable biopsy than die from a disease which could’ve been discovered and treated.

The adage “If you live long enough, chances are, you’ll develop prostate cancer” is most likely true. But, like most cancers, this disease doesn’t care if you’re 20 or 120. Always, always, always discuss the pro’s and con’s of PSA screening with your doctor. Don’t let a yearly physical exam go by without mentioning it.

Yes, you could end up like my brother with a prick that doesn’t want to stand up enough to poke anything and stay there but, as he found out through a sex therapist, there are things you can do to entertain and enjoy your pecker and relieve those full, achy balls. It may not be what you were used to when you were, say a horny 16-year-old kid, but it’s better than being 6-feet under.

Wounded [Willy] Warriors

Men are [typically] defined by three things. Our profession (jobs), our hobbies, and our dicks. And our dicks are many times at the front of that list, rather than at the back of the line. It’s the defining anatomical attribute which makes us “male.”

I read – I know, I read a lot, so sue me – an article in my local paper recently and could instantly relate to it. Then my latest issue of Men’s Health showed up in the mail the other day. A much more in-depth story on the same issue: Our men returning from the war in the Middle East without a nut, or without any balls, and sometimes without a cock.

The MH article points out that each war has its signature wound and leaves a mark on the generation that fights it. In Afghanistan, the war is maiming and emasculating men at a frightful pace. In reading this article, I didn’t just want to cringe and grab my crotch, I wanted to cry.

What’s a functioning willy worth? According to Uncle Sam: Nothing. What’s one – or both – of your balls worth? Again, according to Uncle Sam, nothing. Outrageous, isn’t it?

If a soldier loses a thumb, he gets compensated $50,000. He loses an eye, $50,000. Lose the lips, $75,000. Get their nuts and pecker blown off, “Sorry, dude.”

The medics in the field report that when soldiers are wounded below the waist, the first thing they ask about is their genitals. “Are my balls still there?” “How does my dick look?” One marine even went so far as to tell the captain of the medical corps that showed up to medivac him, “If you can’t save my cock, let me die.” (‘Course the newspaper printed ‘expletive’ instead of whatever word the guy actually used.) That’s a pretty strong statement to make and pretty much says it all. These guys come back and would rather die than go through a life without their manhood, or without the ability to have a family. Yes, ladies, that’s how important our stiff staffs and man-berries are to us.

And it’s not just because of the pleasure we derive from playing with them, or getting laid, getting our rocks off. Many of these guys, of course, worry about the reaction their wives, or girlfriends, will have. Will she stay? Will she leave me for a ‘whole’ man? Even with a fake hard-on, will I be able to satisfy her?

Doctors have developed a way to “recreate” the penis and with implants they can stand up so at least they have the ability to [perhaps] sexually satisfy their partners. The caveat is there’s no sensation and therefore, of course, the guys don’t experience orgasm or cum. And we’ve had ball implants for several decades, but these guys will certainly never father a child.

One sperm bank in California has been offering discounted services to military guys who receive orders for the war zone. Maybe Uncle Sam should consider picking up the cost for all our men in uniform to go whack off into a bottle until they arrive safely back home. It wouldn’t make up for a dismembered member, but at least it would ensure a future family should he want one.

Can we live without our genitals? Of course. Is there any quality of life without them? Even in such a mundane task as taking a leak? Or the pleasure of at least jacking off? That’s a personal call. Only the man who has lost his nuts or his pecker can determine if life without them is worth living.

I don’t know if the government’s attaching a dollar value to our most important attachment(s) is necessarily the answer. But I certainly hope these men are getting every option out there made available to them. I hope the military and civilian psychologists and psychiatrists are trained to understand the importance of these things to a man’s everyday well-being. Because as any guy will tell you, without them we aren’t men.

Extended Ball Check

OK - Listen up, guys!

In Friday’s Ball Check post I used a photo of a guy stretched out on the bed, cupping his balls with one hand. The other hand is giving his left tit a gentle squeeze. And that made me think about a topic I’ve never covered before.

Beside the fact that men’s pecs and nipples are as sensitive as those on you ladies out there and we can enjoy ours – you did know that, guys; you did, didn’t you?? – there is something else we have in common with the ‘fairer sex.’ Breast cancer.

Yes, indeed, men! We are subject to the disease as well. The rash of events and advertising and shit that is going on right now (well, seemingly, never stops) about bringing awareness (and raising money for research) to breast cancer made me start doing some research of my own.

Did you know that more than 1200 men (in the U.S. alone) are diagnosed and over 400 die each year from breast cancer? Shocking, ain’t it?

The reason that many die is because, just as we put off getting our nuts and peckers checked when something is wrong, they don’t seek medical attention soon enough.

Even more shocking is a report I discovered on MSNBC from back in early August. Men have been denied coverage for treatment of the disease by their insurance companies, by Medicaid and Medicare, because…wait for it…wait for it…they’re men!

This just goes to show you how biased, bigoted, and ignorant we all are about the male body.

So, from now on, guys, when I post the reminders about Buddy Ball Check Day, I’m including a reminder to check your pecs as well. Do a Breast Self Exam. Search for lumps or hard spots – just as you do for your nuts. You might enlist the help of a female friend or relative who’s familiar with the procedure to do the exam for you. If your tits ever feel sore – not from bench presses or working out, or from manual labor – if they begin to leak, do a self exam, it could be a sign of male breast cancer. If anything feels out of sorts: Call your doctor ASAP.

Even if it's whilst playing your favorite tune on your favorite organ, take a tip from this guy:
Give the old pecs a decent squeeze!

But even though this is a few days past Buddy Ball Check, consider this your October reminder. Next month, check your tits before you move on down to those balls. I’ll encourage you to make a game out of it and enjoy yourself along the way if that’s what it takes to get you to do it.
