Maybe they've completed surgery, maybe they haven't. Either way, it doesn't preclude them from being fierce protectors of our Constitution.
I'm don't think having genitals that were formed in utero makes anyone more qualified.
Anyone who puts their mind to it can be mighty fierce.

Excellent post Pat!!!! Here Here! What has always bit my ass was us LGBT were treated as second class or third class citizens, didn't have rights, couldnt marry, or par take in any of the US services, because we were told we didn't belong.
But yet, our money was good enough to take in taxes. We were counted as citizens then.

Yes, this is a very good news for USA's LGBTQ people in your country.
But must admit that it is always at the mercy of who is in office and it can be reversed by a president lobbied by any religious beliefs or Evangilicals as the last one.
Here in Canada, we don't have such «cha cha» dance for the gay rights as they're part of our «Canadian Chart of Liberty and Rights» that was included in the renewal of our Canadian Constitution in 1982.
Our Prime Minister and many Generals of the Canadian Army are often seen in our multiple Gay Pride parades.
Those General and top officers often said in public that it's a honor to have the LGBTQ join the armed forces to serve our country.
As I often say is that in USA, race, sex and religion isn't always considered as EQUAL for all.
The latest map of the election in November is a picture of the states that are more open minded and the others that still live in 1950's with old ways of thinking.
Let us hope that everything will be done so that they are not persecuted in the army. It is meant to be a right, not a trap.

Be careful what you wish for. The new admin and all those Obama era buddies are perfectly capable of getting the US into all kinds of wars and dreaming up new global adversaries. Trans or Cis you can easily end up another causality in pursuit of who knows what.
Sorry, Pat, but I disagree. The party of science was obviously sleeping during biology class. Men, have an X and Y chromosome. Women have two Y chromosomes. This is all the way down to the cellular level. The difference is more than penis/virginal and boobs/no boobs. On the website you mentioned several weeks back, guide2getting.com there is a video on the differences between male and female. The differences are both physical and mental. He isn’t trying to take a political stand, just showing the differences between the two sexes. A guy might want to become a female or vice versa, and if they want to do it they have the freedom to do it, but just don’t join the military so you can use my tax money to do it.
Thank you to everyone willing to serve our country. Why would anybody be turned away?

Can we not call Joe "Uncle"? 1) Indian country already used that (more accurately mother's brother/father's sister's husband) for Bernie. 2) It just reminds me of the difficulties he has with modern standards of propriety. TBH, DLC Dems like Clinton and Biden were Libertarian moles: Everything will be fixed by the free market, disparate outcomes can only be explained by differences in individual merit, racism is OK, all sex (even with at best dubious consent) is good. The era was even marked by Goddess Worship in pop culture, Lewis Henry Morganesque theories of hypersexual primal matriarchy; those women are now TERFs all. Though Clinton did repeat Moynihan's victim-blaming jeremiads about the black family and black-on-black crime.
The South was as usual going for the Republicans out of racism. Nothing new there, it's done so in most elections since 1964, and the Dixiecrats were a thing in the sixteen years prior to that.
The Midwest has a different issue, unemployment leading to crime, it's a downward spiral. And that can be blamed on Bill Clinton. That the tech industry continues to hawk Silver Age robot fantasies and the center, lacking expertise but desiring to be seen as an expert, believes anything the tech industry says doesn't help.
The center itself seems to treat politicians like monarchs. Policy doesn't matter but how dare Trump put ketchup on a steak! Ghastly white trees! None of which those of us trampled by 40 years of bullshit give a rat's ass about. We just want an antislavery foreign policy instead of waving the white flag to China.
