So many Costco stories. Back around 1994 my wife and I got to Costco to buy almost nothing but came out with a $350 computer desk AND our smaller items...
Did Costco deliver the other items? That's how the joke worked with old fashioned downtown department stores. They had underfloor conveyor belts to take your purchases to the Shipping Department.
