Done For

Morning

Brought to my attention by fellow blogger Steve over at All Natural & More, the Supreme Court is about to take up Conversion Therapy.

HuffPost: Supreme Court's Conservatives Seem Ready to Allow Conversion Therapy for LGBTQ Kids.

If those six asswipes support that archaic, Dark Ages bullshit we're done for.

I need some Midweek Mirth to cleanse my palate.

Most Banned

Morning

It's Banned Books Week.

Censorship is very much alive and well in this country. And Apple just took another big bite out of the Freedom of Speech belt.

The most banned titles included “A Clockwork Orange” and “Wicked,” while the most banned authors included Stephen King, Sarah J. Maas and Jodi Picoult. More than 80% of all bans originated in just three states: Florida, Texas and Tennessee.

According to many accounts, Stephen King is the most-banned author of all time.

The most banned books of 24-25

Fight the bans.

Readership

Readership is down by 50% since Blogger instituted the new age / account requirements. On the one hand, it makes sense. They're ensuring that regulatory bodies won't find that it's easy for underage folks to view what is considered Adult Material. On the other, it doesn't; it feels like greed. They're forcing people to set up a Google account, which boosts their bottom line and increases stock value.

Even if all this blog had were words, it would still have to be behind the Sensitive Content warning because, well, because I don't mince words here.

Despite a plethora of monikers,

Here, a cock is a cock is a cock.

A boner is a boner.

Or "wood."

I guess we can't grouse too much. At least I haven't been shut down (again). Though it appears the algorithm is removing individual posts  on some blogs for "violating community guidelines." Though those are pretty broadly scripted.

Fellow Bloggers, have you noticed a difference in readership?

Readers, have you needed to establish an account to read?

The War on "Penis"

Taking steps backward has been the fear of many in the past couple of decades as the Religious Right has waged war on sexuality of all kinds. They have especially targeted the male anatomy. Fighting male nudity wasn't enough.

Now the medical term itself is being declared "explicit, crass, gross, and vulgar" by people in the Phoenix area after a person brought the war on penises to light with the simple graffiti tag Penis Man. The graffiti doesn't contain spray-painted images. Nope. Just the words. The story has gone viral since being reported by the local ABC affiliate on December 31.

Dick and cock are no longer alone. Apparently, now even the medical term is offensive. Those who find the word vulgar are trying to convince the rest of us to believe the same.

Now, I certainly don't condone defacing property. Graffiti is not good - even the street artist Banksy is committing an illegal act despite the millions of dollars being paid to save and collect his work. (Note: The below images are not Banksy's work.)

A young woman interviewed in the report worries that her "younger siblings will see it." I happen to find that reaction ridiculous - but it's also frightening to think that society is taking the war on the penis to new heights.

Readers, what do you think?
Is "Penis" now a vulgarity?
