"In our other emails, I have told you about my jacking-off and inability to cum, but I do get a hard-on, although it is not as firm and sustainable as it once was...in this process I have gotten "friction burns" or rubbed raw on some parts of my cockhead. It hurts like the dickens; I have treated it with Vaseline and waited for it to heal. I wonder how widespread this is for older men. I do love touching my cock and jacking-off and sex with another man when I have had the opportunity. Just thought I share and wonder if it is an issue with other men of my age. I NEVER had this issue until now as I stroke off at the age of 55 and unable to shoot my pent-up load. Thanks again, R"
Friction burns is a thing. It happens. I've had the experience myself years ago when I couldn't cum and tried for more than 3 hours. Turned out to be a severe prostate infection. Prescription: 2-week antibiotic regimen and orders to jack off at least twice per week --- in addition to any partner sex.
Cut guys may be more prone to that because there's no foreskin to glide across the head and protect it. If you are cut, the only way to avoid rubbing yourself raw is to use lube. Or more lube if you're already using something.
How common is it for guys to get friction burns from jacking off?
Readers?

My 'skin was removed in infancy. Maybe I'm just 100% calloused, but I've never needed to use lube. The remaining skin on my shaft is loose enough that it moves up and down freely.
Yes, I have overdone it on occasion, and (to quote Todd Rundgren), it left me sore...

Both of us have had friction burns. Some from the toys we use.
@ Hooter - There are all kinds of reasons guys get friction burn on their cocks. Even by too vigorously toweling dry!
@ Paulmmn - Yeah, some doctors cut off too much. Leaving enough is important because boners can take up pretty much all of what's left.
I don't think I've ever been rubbed raw from friction of jacking off which as you know I probably over masturbate, when partnered or not. I have always gotten into the habit of either using hand cream or Vitamin E oil or coconut oil. It feels good and it keeps the skin on my cock very soft. Now I did get raw one time, but that was from grinding my cock against another guy's cock too hard and not enough lubricant.
@ whkattk I l earned about the Vitamin E oil from you and it works great,my cock is so smooth and silky feeling.Even had a couple of guys comment on how silky the head was
I'm a 70yo uncut man and Ì really don't like to use lub when I masturbate because it cancels the feeling of the frottage which gives me more sensations.
BUT, once in a while, I don't experience burning but bleeding of the forskin of my dick. It's not painful but I have to wait few days to let it heal.
I'm circumcised (thank God) and have always used lube. Lube feels better.
Albolene, the makeup remover is great for jacking off! You can edge with it for hours! A little goes a long way. It is the best lube I have ever used . Fair warning, it stains so make sure you clean up properly.
I am 60 and I get friction burn everybody now and then and when that happens I can’t cum. I never use lube but sometimes I pre cum a lot and that seems to cause the burn
@ JiEL - Bleeding of the foreskin? Does it tear easily? Or is there some other issue that you know about?
@ Anon, April 21, 2023 at 10:37 AM - Thank you. Now I know at least **one** guy listened to me. 😁
@ Anon, April 21, 2023 at 11:41 AM - The consensus over at BateWorld seems to be a preference for Albolene. But you're the first person to warn about staining. Thanks!
I have sometimes given myself a raw spot when dry stroking, especially with chapped hands (occupational hazard in winter). They tend to occur on the thinner skin at and below the frenulum, probably because I’m cut with no residual foreskin at all.
And, of course, they develop more easily if I go on jerking jags, when the blood gets up, if you catch my drift!
Only once have I had a friction burn...more like a rash, really. I'm circumcised but only use lube if I'm stroking with a toy.
A friend of mine (who jacks off more frequently than I do) gets a burn if he goes at it several times close together.
I too learned about Vitamin E oil from this site. I just use it occasionally. It helps keep my penis so supple!
Another group of good oils are Argan Oil, old faithful, Castor Oil, and Olive Oil.
All of these will stain fabrics. Solution, sprinkle body powder or corn starch on greasy spot and let sit overnight. This will draw all the oil out.
TGIF!! Hugs and bisous.
Turning 75 today and having Prostate issues requiring medication that has eliminated cum when I masterbate has been an adjustment. At first I would try harder to reach some productive result and ended up with a raw spot or two. But with time I have learned that I can get an erection and have all the physical sensations of a climax just no "juice". Makes for an easier clean up afterwards but I admit I do go out of my way to avoid sex with anyone. Trying to explain the situation is not worth the effort. So, just a slow and sensual wank does the trick for me with no rubbed raw results.
At 80 years in age I've found that bating for more than an hour a day can cause irritation of the rim of my cock head and the foreskin attached below it. I use generous amounts of olive oil as lubricant - and it contains vitamin E. Internet search finds a gazillion vitamin e skin oil products but no citations of clinical research that proves its effectiveness. On lists of oils that are good for skin, other oils, like coconut and grape seed are at the top. I use coconut oil as massage oil because that's what the Body Electric school recommended, but in my climate it's a solid at room temperature and heating it interferes with the spontaneity of bating. Albolene contains mineral oil, petrolatum, paraffin, ceresin, beta-carotene which are known for their skin conditioning properties - but do I really want to put those ingredients on my precious cock? Also, since I like to lick tasty pre-come off my fingers while bating - do I want to eat them too?
So it's still a puzzle for me. My aging skin needs protection (not abstinence!) but...
Uncut. Tried lube (a jacking buddy mentioned it) once in college: It actually interferes with the feeling for me. And it's a mess. No thank you.
Something similar happened to my partners dad but that was from his own stupidity not through anything else. We got him a fleshlight toy, he used it without lube and got his dick stuck in it. His dad came into our room panicking that it hurts and his dick is stuck inside it. Took us about 10mins to get his dick out of it. We took the canister off, I had hold of the sleeve bit spreading it away while my partner got his fingers inside to spread lube around his dads dick so we could slide the sleeve off. His dad clinging to a pillow in pain.
When we got it off his dick was red raw and still hard the whole time! Washed the lube off his dick and put a heavy moisturizer on it for a while. Once the redness went away washed it again and got his dad to use a body oil on it overnight. In the morning his dick was back to normal just a little tender.
That was an experience. Rescuing your partners dad's dick from a fleshlight as he didnt use lube. Stupidity and the dick runs in their family; my partner has done a few questionable things with his dick too.
Apart from that always moisturize when you get out of the shower; dick included. The younger you start the better that way when you are in the older years your dick will be in pretty good condition and not looking like a a burnt out salami thats been left on the side of the road.
@ T - OMG... You're right, that was sheer stupidity. What an episode to go through - for everyone concerned. And, yes!!! always moisturize the dick and balls after a shower. Always.
@ Anon, April 21, 2023 at 12:56 PM - If the precum (or cum) burns, the skin is too dry. As T suggests, moisturize every day when you get out of the shower.
@ Jean - Getting rid of oil on clothing or bed linens has always been a problem. Thanks for the tip! Hugs and bisous.
@ Moran-Newman - Happy birthday!!!!
@ Anon, April 22, 2023 at 5:39 AM - Still having a foreskin means any precum can stay employed. There's typically no reason for an uncut guy to have to use lube to jack off. Now, if you use a sleeve....
@ fullmoonma - Like the coconut and grapeseed oil, pure Vit E oil is ingestible. I've never been a proponent of Albolene because of all those chemical ingredients.
Have a great weekend
Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.
Did the dad every try the fleashlight again with lub this time?.
As I mostly speak French, «tear» is one I don't quite understand the meaning,
When my penis skin is bleeding, it's not like flowing blood but a small among of it near the gland.
It doesn't hurt that much.
It commes sometimes but not often when I bate too long and too hard.
I don't use lub which I don't like because it lowers to much the good sensations on my penis and gland.
Now, the day after it's gone but I wait few days after before resuming masturbation..
Hope this answers your comment.
@ JiEL - Yes, it does answer my question. I'm happy it's not what I thought it might be.
Circroncis depuis l'âge de 8 ans. Un peu de lubrifiant adoucis certains maux.
@ T - so great to hear of the bond, sharing and caring between generations of men and their peers, without shame over sexuality or homophobia: just all men together.
I'm uncut and I produce a lot of precum, so I have no problems
@Hooter from Owls Rest
Yes. He loves it and now has a collection of them. We even have him moisturizing too.
With moisturizers, body oils are the top pick but there are 2 types. Ones with water and ones without. Ones with water will hydrate your skin and the ones that dont have water replace your skins protective barrier.
Lotions follow behind the oils and your creams are for more specialized issues (extreme dryness, feet, cracked skin etc). Body butters/whips are similar to the oils (having 2 types).
Another thing to look out for is Alcohol in the product. Many moisturizers will have alcohol's in them (there are good and bad ones) but the one that dries out your skin is Alcohol itself. Also called Rubbing Alcohol. Great for first aid use; not so great for skincare.
Any moisturizer apply straight after shower, better when your skin still wet for best results and quicker drying time.
@ Etre - being circumsized, a think a bit of lube would ease things and help soften the skin.
