Naked Man With the Sword II

I realized the promise made last week to report on the Naked Man With the Sword was not fulfilled.
That must be remedied.
While the results did not surprise, they did disappoint. Best Actor Joaquin Phoenix, deserved; Best Actress Renee Zelwegger, not deserved (it should've gone to Cynthia Erivo for Harriet); Supporting Actor Brad Pitt, deserved among those on the list (Christian Bale for Ford v Ferrari didn't even get nominated); Supporting Actress Laura Dern, not deserved (should've gone to Scarlett Johanson for JoJo Rabbit); Best Film Parasite, not deserved - now that is the biggest disappointing factor.
JoJo Rabbit was by far the better film and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood had the better script with it's twist on rewriting history. We found Parasite predictable, and what was touted to be a film about class struggle to be about nothing more than a family of grifters. Top it off with a win as International Film (renamed from Foreign Language Film), also not deserved, Pain and Glory is a better film by far, and Parasite walked away with two Best Film Awards on the same night.

Thus, the evening of Naked Man with the Sword

left us a bit

limp.

@ Jean - Yes, indeed. I'll not only be voting in this caucus - I'm a precinct captain. Not really expecting a large turnout - as elsewhere. The field is still too large for people to decide on a candidate. Me? I'm looking for moderate - the more pragmatic one who realizes it takes an act of Congress to get things done. LOL. Hugs and bisous!

@whkattk: But a true pragmatist realizes one needs to first get elected. And Silicon Valley's idea of pragmatism is most people's idea of cuckoo. The only reason anyone voted for the economic right is to hurt others more. But Democrats since McGovern have thought this strategy viable. It has nearly a half-century of failure, with one president (with a spoiler, and a frankly incompetent incumbent because this was when his predecessor and houngan's ideas were falling apart).

Anyway, I liked Jojo Rabbit because this is exactly how autocrats work, make you think they're your only true friend. (And if you question that, we have ways to be more persuasive.) But Hitler offering a smoke? Dude was a serious health nut, even seeing Jews as an infection. Not for nothing do we use his vegetarian diet as a demonstration of the guilt by association fallacy.
