With Your Pants Down

Sat marked 40 years since the same affliction was found in five gay men in LA. Two had already died. It took months before the INH and the CDC realized they had a communicable virus spreading and gave it a name. HIV-AIDS has killed almost 40 million people worldwide.

Safe Sex practices were encouraged in the early days. Masturbation, mutual masturbation brought about the jack-off clubs which still exist today.

Yes, now there are drugs which keep the virus at such low levels as to be undetectable, and the claim is that is can't be spread through sexual contact. And there are drugs called PReP drugs, like Descovy, which are supposed to keep those at high risk from even contracting it.

People ---- particularly young people ---- are not paying close enough attention. HIV-AIDS is still an STD-STI. Today, there are still more than 1.2 million people in the U.S. living with HIV-AIDS. The PReP pharmaceuticals highly recommend Safe Sex Practices: Masturbation, Mutual Masturbation, Frottage, and the use of condoms in addition to the drug.

Particularly after such a long, long haul dealing with COVID-19, everyone is eager to get back to 'normal.' Normal is good. Normal is fine. But don't let normal catch you with your pants down
and unprepared.

History Repeats

December 1. World AIDS Day. A day to remember those who have succumbed to the disease, but also to make people aware of the fact that HIV/AIDS is still around.

The Granddaddy of all ribbon campaigns

Group masturbation grew out of the AIDS crisis with the opening of Jack Off Clubs to encourage men to have safe sex. The New York Jacks was among the first - if not the first - to open. Masturbation was encouraged by activist groups as an alternative to anal or oral sex before much at all was known about the virus. Of course, the backlash was harsh. Men didn't want to give up what they enjoyed, what is a natural urge: Sexual contact with another person.

Just like COVID-19, the more science was applied, the more we knew what we could and couldn't do to keep ourselves safe.

Now, here we are again. And masturbation is again being encouraged as a means of safe sexual release. Though, now, we are asked to remain completely alone in the endeavor. It's hard - if you'll pardon the pun.

Sex is important to our health and welfare,

but safe sex is paramount to our health and welfare.

Fellow blogger Sixpence has done a very wonderful post of the subject today. WAD 2020 It's really worth your time to go check it out.

On the Rise

I read a very small article this week and thought today would be a good time to post about it. Weekends are typically when folks go out on the hunt to get laid. Not surprising. What is surprising is that they - obviously - are not being careful; not being safe.
Condoms burst into national consciousness back in the 80's AIDS crisis. That overwhelming spread of a then-unknown STI, or STD, also brought about the push for mutual masturbation as a means of sexual release.

But, recent reports show a frightening continued rise in the spread of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Folks, this is not good. Yes, unlike HIV, there are cures for these. And, yes, there are drugs which can keep HIV at undetectable levels.
However, if you aren't following safe sex practices, you can unknowingly contract any STD and then infect another person.
The BWA slogan "Keeping the man parts healthy" includes safe sex. Mutual masturbation can be just as pleasurable, just as satisfying as penetrative activity. Using a condom may cut down on a man's sensitivity a little bit, but that lack of sensation will not be so great as to stop ejaculation.

Stay safe this weekend. If you are not in a monogamous relationship, if you find a random hook-up, if you plan on "dipping your wick," use condoms. Otherwise, hands can be just as stimulating,

just as pleasurable,

just as satisfying and the release as complete.

Have a fun, safe weekend.

Group Experience

In the 80s, as the world fell shocked by the HIV/AIDS crisis, the term "safe sex" became synonymous with the use of condoms. But masturbation was touted as the one sure bet. It's the singular way to enjoy release without the risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease of any type.

Particularly where one may have HIV/AIDS and wanted to ensure he didn't infect anyone else.

This brought the birth of Jack Off Clubs. The Granddaddy of them all is the New York Jacks. The idea spread and there are groups in pretty much every major metropolis. The ideal place for guys to play together without the risk of infection.

That the membership in these groups spread into the straight community wasn't far behind shouldn't be a surprise. Straight dudes, who enjoy the exhibitionism or voyeurism of masturbating with like-minded guys, found them to be a great solution. The semi-public setting ensured the fun of it without the risk of arrest. Still others found this a terrific way to again experience the youthful circle-jerks they found so enjoyable.

Recently, researchers from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine announced they've come one step closer to a cure for HIV. They've managed to eliminate infected human tissue planted in mice.

"The next stage would be to repeat the study in primates, a more suitable animal model where HIV infection induces disease, in order to further demonstrate the elimination of HIV-1 DNA. Here, we demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of excising the HIV-1 provirus in three different animal models,” reported the researchers.“To our knowledge, this study is the first to demonstrate the effective excision of HIV-1 proviral DNA from the host genome in pre-clinical animal models [using this method]."

They hope to begin a clinical trial by 2020. That's fantastic news, but most likely won't lower participation in group stroking, and there's no reason it should. It still offers a great sense of camaraderie, of belonging, of brotherhood.
