"No doubt you’ve probably covered this before, but…
Is is safe or I’ll advised to play long enough to get hard and stay that way for awhile (an hour or two, occasionally more) for a few days at a time without actually ejaculating?
Just enjoying the feeling of being hard. Not really trying to get to that almost ready to burst mode that edging brings, but close enough to produce a lot of pre-cum (but that is normal for me anyway)."
The chances I've covered any subject at some point over the (almost) eleven years writing this blog are pretty good. But that doesn't mean they aren't worth repeating. So, thank you for writing in and giving something to write about.
There are lots of men who subscribe to semen retention for much longer than three days. It's the idea of building up and retaining the erotic energy because ejaculation releases calming, soothing chemicals from the brain into the bloodstream.
Which is why ejaculating helps to relieve tension headaches, helps calm anxiety, and helps as a sleep aide.
For many, many years, it was preached that if a man lived long enough he would develop prostate cancer. Over the past couple of decades, that view has changed. Urologists have come to believe the prostatic fluid is toxic to us if continuously retained; it leads to the prostate cancer. Thus the suggestion that the more we cum the lower our risk of developing [prostate] cancer.
What you appear to be doing is embracing both ideas: Getting and staying hard for a few hours a day, for several days in a row before ejaculating.
I think maybe you've hit the proverbial compromise, that middle ground. In fact, your average of every few days appears to comply with the suggestion that men should cum at least twice per week.
Keep your routine going.

Indeed, you have undoubtedly already dealt with all aspects of this problem, but we are nonetheless blessed with a very nice illustration.
Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.
Sounds good to me! Love the post!
@ MFP - Aw, thanks. Hugs and bisous.
@ Rick - Thank you!
And I agree with you and French Patrick, I never knew there were so many subjects to cover.
We are all working on our PhD's here, Hugs and bisous.
Twice a week! Well... I always was an over-achiever! Thanks for all the advice. Kizzes.
Full disclosure... I am Catholic and our local priest is a good friend. All above board, but he is Irish, so I challenged him to the buddy ball check, out of real concern for his health. He had told me one of his brothers back in Ireland had lost a ball to cancer. He declined the “buddy” part but promised me he’d do the ball check. Of course I assumed he’s uncircumcised so suggested he do the foreskin check as well. A few days later he told me he’d seem some worrying color changes on the inner lining of his foreskin, and called his doctor for an appt. We are both waiting for that appointment, and hope it’s all just benign. Guys don’t delay - if anything changes get professionally checked out.
Ohh you mentioned it and I had to google to find out more about semen retention.
Whoa Nelly!
XOXO
@ Paul - Well, the original definition of the Buddy Ball Check was that you found a way to encourage other men to do the check. Checking one another isn't necessary. So, you ore than accomplished the goal. I hope your priest friend gets a good report.
@ Upton - LOL! Kisses!!
@ Six - Not for you, right? XOXO
