We finally get to the third item that Joost sent about the IgNobel Prizes. "They always have very funny but scientifically serious topics."
Losing the ability to have sex due to the lack of a willing partner can be overcome with hands or a sleeve, like the FleshJack.
But losing the ability to find release even in that manner can be devastating. It can drive some men into very deep depression.
That is why so many researchers work at solving the problem. From way back in the days of vacuum pumps and cock rings to today's Viagra and Cialis.
It has led to a Dutch study that found help for Erectile Dysfunction (ED) using stem cell therapy. As reported at DW:
"Erectile dysfunction affects nearly half of all men between 40 and 70 years of age. Other impotence treatments like Viagra can come with serious side-effects, and while getting an injection into the penis likely wasn't fun for the trial participants, none of them reported significant issues. Haahr's team used stem cells taken from abdominal fat cells via liposuction and injected them into the penises of 21 trial participants. The men were able to be discharged from the clinic on the day of the procedure. Within six months of the initial treatment, eight of the men reported they had regained the ability to participate in penetrative sexual activity without using drugs like Viagra. Function has been retained at twelve months follow up."
There's a video (also on the DW site) in which Urologist Dr. Tobias Pottek explains when men should see their doctor, the possible causes of ED, and how it can be treated.
I thank Joost for bringing these prizes that can help men to my attention for posting. And men should thank the IgNobel committee for bringing this to light.

It's amazing what they can do with science. Especially considering the complexity of the penis!
Where are the studies/research for men like me who've never had ED? At 82 y/o I'm as had as when I was a kid. Nor has my penis shrunk. Not at all. Still seven inches and thick. Genetics or lifestyle? My father was "at it" at home "and abroad" until the day he died. As for lifestyle, I've never smoked, never been drunk. Rarely drink. One mixed drink a year is a lot. Have always exercised. I weighed 155 as an adult teen. Today 160. If there's ever a study for men like me I'd happily volunteer.
Despite all the focus on erections and ED, it's still possible for men to orgasm and ejaculate without an erection.
Rather than being about self-pleasure, ED is more about not being able to have straightforward penetrative sex with a partner for their pleasure. However, this doesn't mean ED prevents giving a partner pleasure, just not through penetrative sex with an erect penis.
I'm wondering if all the fuss is more about the psychological aspect of masculinity and potency being tied to an erect dick when it doesn't need to be.
Imho, vacuum pumps are pathetic
I'm the lucky duck. Nearly 40, hard as I was when he started spitting potential kids all over the place. I guess I can't have double digit orgasms in one day like I could then, but that's more for lack of time.
@ Anon, September 27, 2022 at 11:06 AM - It appears you've hit the jackpot! It is probably due to a combination of genetics and lifestyle.
@ Anon, September 28, 2022 at 1:44 AM - Of course it is emotional and psychological. Men - for the most part - place their manhood right square onto their manhood. The ability to get a good strong erection defines them.
@ anon, September 28, 2022 at 4:48 AM - Keep things in good shape and (provided the time) you could be back to multiple orgasms without a problem.
When I discovered jacking off in about the 4th grade, the whole area (seemed like a foot diameter from my penis) would start "glowing" just before orgasm. Neat stuff! As I got closer to my 40s, it seemed to not happen like that anyt more, but no ED. When I got a good prostate massage, it happened again and stayed happening for a good while. Investigated prostate massagers with good results, but then the glow faded again. As ejaculate is more clear than white, in recent years. I'm now 70. Why did the research stop at 70?
Stay in shape, or close to it, plus supplements to keep "T" going and others to decrease "E", too. But, above all, plenty of good lube and don't hurry . . . emjoy the feelings! Keeping "the pipes clean" can be fun, just as it used to be.
