Alternatives

"I'm in college and seeing a really great girl and having great sex but between the cost of condoms I can't afford to keep buying cuz there more expensive I'm allergic to latex is causing lots of trouble in our paradise. Ideas?"

Non-latex condoms are more expensive than regular.

But there are alternatives. There are toys and hands for mutual masturbation

there's oral

and enough variations of frottage to keep you entertained.

Always bear in mind that precum can contain sperm. If either of you touch your slippery cock, keep the hands away from her crotch.

If that type of activity becomes tedious - in other words, you both really miss the feel of penetration, you could always have a box of condoms on hand to use sparingly.

In a pinch though, people have recommended Saran Wrap. You know, that old kitchen standby for covering things? From Daily Nexus, at the University of California Santa Barbara, it's number one on the satirical list of Top 7 Household Items to Use as Back-up Condoms.

"This one always seems like the best option, but the only problem is it can be sometimes rather difficult to gauge how much you’ll need. Put on too much and you either have to toss some out and waste it or have so much on that you can’t feel anything. Put on too little and you have to pull off another piece and worry about the two sheets not sticking together. Word of advice: measure twice, cut once!"

Satirical the article may be, but plastic wrap can work. It's cheap. You can buy an entire roll for the price of a few singly-packed condoms. Doing a few test runs on your own would probably be smart. Though, I don't think the stuff works very well. It doesn't quite cling to the skin the way you'd want a condom to, and slippage could be a real problem.

Try Press and Seal, instead. It's a bit more expensive than the standard plastic wrap but worth it. The light adhesive will stick to your shaft but won't tear up the skin when you remove it.

Don't forget to leave a little room at the head for cum just like a normal condom.
(Note: Do not squeeze out the air or the plastic will seal itself off.)

It seems that you have solved their problem with the plastic wrap, so I can only wish a happy continuation to this pleasant little couple.

Hugs and bisous, my darlings Jean and Pat.

Wow, what a conundrum. Always good advice, though.

@ Rick - Well, I hope it works for them.

Well necessity... the mother of invention. Stick with alternative methods of getting off that don't involve penetration. Of course, there's always the butt, Bob.

Wait what?
He can go to any gay bar and grab a handful of condoms from the many bowls they usually have hanging around. Kidding!
But yes, he can go to Planned Parenthood and they'll give him boxes.
This boy needs to take College 101.

XOXO

Since the girl is also benefiting from the sex and condom usage, perhaps she could contribute to their purchase, or she could buy herself some Femidoms (female condoms that I think are non-latex and also recommended for men in the "Oh My God" size department).

Condoms also tend to be cheaper per item in bulk and sometimes health councils can do a better price because of subsidies.

But always remember, condoms aren't 100% reliable, so another form of contraception to make doubly sure is always a good idea (eg spermicidal jelly and condoms).

There are other forms of contraception she could purchase and use if she wants to protect herself, since only women can become pregnant. Condoms do have the advantage of also helping prevent the transmission of STIs.

From Planned Parenthood: "If you use condoms perfectly every single time you have sex, they’re 98% effective at preventing pregnancy. But people aren’t perfect, so in real life condoms are about 85% effective — that means about 15 out of 100 people who use condoms as their only birth control method will get pregnant each year." If this young lady is going to have regular sex, she needs more reliable birth control like an IUD or birth control pills. Hugs and bisous.

@ Jean - And Planned Parenthood will actually supply condoms - evidently free for the asking. Provided they are in a state where the clinics have not been closed down. Hugs and bisous.

@ Anon - Right you are - there are lots of alternatives. And, yes, the expense and the responsibility should be shared. Equal pay for equal play.

@ Six - I wonder if the college provides them? You know, like in the Student Union? Some high schools do - sometimes bowls of them in the men's locker room or the school counselor's ante-room. XOXO
