What's Your Take

If you have ever watched HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher you'll be familiar with his segment, "I Don't Know It for a Fact, I just Know It's True." That came to mind when I saw this posted by Steve over at All Natural & More:

Now, I can't find any evidence of this story but, if true, it's a brilliant move.

How did we get to the colors to define gender? Thanks to Reader Derek, we know!

Today's stereotype question from Fabricio:

"Why can't straight men listen to Pop just because they like the beat? Are you becoming less straight because of it?"

My short answer is: They can. Certain singers have become gay icons (think Cher, Barbra, Bette Midler) but I'm not sure the LGBTQ+ community is large enough to explain the humongous charting sales of recordings and concert tickets.

Readers, what's your take?

How can I say why can't straight men listen to Pop just because they like the beat while I think that it's untrue?

How can I become less straight while I am not straight?

Hugs and bisous my darlings Jean and Pat.

Postscript: The experts who speak in the media tell us that Vladimir Putin is crazy, and therefore unpredictable. We speak of his "paranoid determination", of his "obsessions", of his "delusional remarks", of his "unreasoning", of his "loss of sense of reality", of his "warrior madness".

As regards Putin, as for me I think that he is furious by birth and for life.

I had a hell of a time access your blog yesterday...and couldn't.

But the grinder meme!!!!! You know damn well the Russian shoulders play together. A horny man doesn't care.

about grindr in Russia & Ukraine, grindr doesn't work there. When I ask in a populous city like Moscow or Kiev, to point me some rofiles there, my grindr replies that there are no profiles there. So either there is a Russian-Ukrainian grindr, or our grindr is encrypted.

If Vlad knew of all the Russian gay porn online!
I also read about Grindr and about Ukrainian girls catfishing Russian soldiers and having them disclose their location.
Everybody can listen to pop. Pop is gay? I didn't know. Toxic masculinity is shit...

XOXO

Just when you think you have everybody figured it out, they will surprise you. And maybe that's the answer, we are each very unique. Hugs and bisous.

I really do not think that straight guys are more gay for listening to pop music. But this is coming from a gay man who loves the music of most of the gay icons in music. I guess it probably makes ME more gay! LOL!

Pop music is such a broad category of music... I don't think gender or sexuality enters into it. A song that only speaks to the LGBTQ+ nation is most likely to only chart on the dance club play charts... when a song goes to #1 on the Hot 100? That's a lot of buy in... that's universal appeal... even when that song is something that speaks to the LGTBQ+ community, such as Cher's Believe. That song spoke to everyone. So, again, I don't really think the point made is valid.

Stereotypes exist from experience. But don't assume they apply to every person. I would say stereotypes are more often wrong than they are correct. I may be a homosexual, but I'm hardly gay. I listen to CountryCowboyFolkWestern music. And I live in the country with a tractor.
